Until they give him a real name, fans can call him whatever they want. And if Genim is a fanon then that is fine. Though I would like to know how Genim came about.

I believe it's the name written on the file on coache's desk that the Sherriff points at?

Well when the creator of the show comes out and says that's not his name, it's kind of obnoxious to still keep using it.

Why? It doesn't impact the show in any way. It isn't an offensive name. It doesn't affect story plot.

You're right. Just tired of seeing it when we know it's not his name. Nothing more than that.

That's like saying shipping non-canon pairings (be they slash or not) when the creator's state they're never going to be together is obnoxious.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Why, it's not like there's a something else to use instead?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Not everyone considers Word of God to be canonical. And even if (generic) you do, there's no guarantee that the creator won't backtrack anyway; witness examples as minor as Mozzie's name being spelled Haversham rather than Havisham and as major as Mulder and Scully getting romantically involved.

This is where it came from

That's Sheriff Stilinski's hand pointing to the name on his son's file while in a parent-teacher conference with Finstock.

Huh. How the hell is that not canon?

Honestly, it was a split-second and I'm pretty sure they weren't really intending for it to be seen, but, you know, HD and detail-oriented fans. I thought the scene was made a little awkward because of the deliberate avoidance of saying his name and having the Sheriff point to the file.

That supposed G looks more like another i to me, so [something]ienim? Is that even possible in a Polish name though?

Yeah, I'm seeing an i as well. Secondin whoever mentioned lazy Jeff Davis and bad prop design.

Yeah I can't see a G in that at all... it definitely looks like [truncated]ienim to me...

well tbh I now fully support fandom's desire to use this name
