It's because right now the korean's are making the better dramas isn't it? I feel like there's an overabundance of repetitive shows coming out of Japan and Korea is doing (slightly) better.

Also, higher production values in korean dramas, as well as their licensing deals with Dramacrazy and through them Hulu give them a larger audience.

+1000 to the Dramcrazy/Netflix/Hulu stuff. Japan is fucking crazy keeping all their shit offline. If they want money they need to be doing that. This is the main reason why I think jdramas have become so much less popular. People pirated and torrented back in the day because things like streaming wasn't available. No one wants to be a thief, and given the options, most people will go with the option where they don't have to be.

I don't have any issues with being a "thief", but streaming rather than having to torrent or join a private sharing group is just so much easier.
