Which if they did this I could then see them thinking of it as imposter syndrome.
But they were inspired by a song. So many publish writers are inspires by so many things and talk about it openly. So I'm just- there has to be something I'm missing.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)Or maybe OP is very young and is still unsure of themselves.
And, hey. I've been published (by other people, even, because screw self-pubbing; it's a lot of trouble if you want it to actually look good) several times and I still have Imposter Syndrome.

I guess this is just one of those things I'm not gonna get. Sometimes that happens to me. I just gotta accept they feel that way and move on from there even if I don't get the reasoning.
Mmm, if OP is still reading all this, I hope you get past it and not feel guilty for something that isn't remotely like simply filing off the serial numbers. And even if it was? If you've done a good enough job at separating it from its inspiration than it's no one's business but yours. You haven't plagiarized and that's what matters. People get inspiration from a lot of places. Don't feel bad. Enjoy what you've got and how far you've already come.
