Ramsay already has stans.

And I would never put those two in the same wheelhouse. Like Cersei's not a great person, but she's up in the same sub-bracket as the rest of the players that are dudes (Dany's done some gross stuff too, but nowhere near to that level). I honestly think the majority of Cersei fans get "stanny" because of the instant backlash against her that isn't directed to similarly bad male characters.

Ramsay and the Mountain are probably the worst people in the entire books, though.

Ramsay's "stans" acknowledge that he's a completely horrible person. They don't woobify him.

And only a handful of the males in GoT have had babies mass slaughtered.

I have only seen the series, and am only an observer of the fandom, but Cersei doesn't seem that bad to me? She seems pretty sympathetic for someone who is also pretty mean. She seems like most of the dudes, like her dad and lover-brother. Why does she get so much OMG HATE except that she's a "bitch", ie a woman being cold?

In the book she has infants slaughtered to cover up her incest.

She also has innocent women tortured as part of some experiment.

Not to mention she's an enabler for Joffrey to abuse a teenage girl.

So...yeah...

That's pretty much the case for everyone in the books that has a POV and some people who don't (though I could never really feel for Victarion, he's my one exception, I hate that guy). Esp in the show where a lot of the bad behavior for most of the characters has been softened.

I think because a lot of the arguments towards Cersei are gendered is where my problem is. Like 9/10 you'll see people bitching about the fact that she has fans, but no one bitching about the comparatively just as bad or not worse male characters who also have fans.

Tywin Lannister emotionally abused his son, had his son's 13-year-old wife gang-raped and forced him to participate in the rape. He slaughtered two entire families, there's even a nice little song about it. Has stans.

Littlefinger forced a 12-year-old girl into prostitution and is manipulating and molesting another. Has stans.

NEITHER of those characters have the same level of support that Cersei has. Like people may like Littlefinger as a character because he's able to manipulate people, but they're not going to get upset if something bad happens to him. Likewise with Tywin, who I don't think *anyone* begrudged Tyrion shooting an arrow into his bowels.
