Um yeah, I used to listen to her when I felt like pop, but I've come to be just exasperated with her after her shitty concert I attended and fiascos like this.

Lol I was actually dragged to her concert with a friend several months ago (I wasn't really interested at all, but they didn't want to go alone and paid for my ticket) and I ended up thinking it was the best concert I'd ever been to.

I know she wore the ~designer~ burqa for that dude's fashion show, and I'm not giving her a pass on that. It was a huge fucking nope and was not okay.

But the actual song everyone is talking about is called Aura and doesn't even mention a Burqa if I recall? So I am kind of confused re: the controversy regarding it.

I do really love her music though, and I think Applause is pretty gr8. It's okay to like problematic things etc. etc.

I have no idea what this is about beyond what the next secret says and I don't care. I don't care about people behind the music or what they do or even all of their music or what genre it is. When it comes to music, I like listening to songs I like and that's all.

Yes, and someone (a woman who wears the burqa) wrote an article about it, saying that it was controversial, but she approved of the msg behind it.

It was mostly non-Muslims who were in an uproar but some Muslims said they were fine with it.

Yeah. I've generally stayed away from this stuff but I follow a (very) few Muslim women on tumblr, most of whom wear burqas, and they were all really upset.

I haven't really seen any white (non-Muslim) people talk about it except one dude but he was talking about how it wasn't racist and then called everyone who was calling him racist, racist so...

*shrug* This is the first time I've seen anyone who wasn't Muslim upset by it. Maybe my experiences are just outliers though. Unsure. In any case, my anecdotal evidence isn't really reliable here since it's just my word. I would hope people who are upset by it are listening to the people who are actually affected by it. If not they're just as bad.

I've come across a ton of Muslims who were totally okay with it. Some others are offended. It's just one of those things where there isn't going to be any kind of consensus.

But yeah to be honest most of the people enraged are either white people or at the very least POC who aren't Muslim. It's odd that SJW get on the case of people for 'speaking for minorities they aren't a part of' and yet they do exactly that.
