Eh, Luigi's taller, but I don't think he's all that much slimmer than Mario.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-17 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Even if they weigh the same amount, if Luigi is taller he is a thinner person than Mario.

Except, he clearly is. Chop him off at the knees and shorten his arms, and he and Mario have the same body type.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-17 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't say they have the SAME body type, but yeah. Luigi? Is not "not fat." And if anything, Mario, while probably heavier, is more proportional.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-17 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Notice how it's fatass Mario who's grabbing another egg...

I hate you for making me laugh!

[Picture is a drawing of Mario, Luigi and a Yoshi egg from the "Mario" videogame franchise. Mario is a short man with short red hair and side burns, a black mustache, pale skin, blue eyes and wearing a red hat with the emblem of the letter "M" on the front. He is wearing a long-sleeved red shirt, blue overalls, white gloves and brown shoes. He is touching Yoshi's egg, which is huge, white and with large green spots. It's laying on a small yellow nest. Luigi, standing beside Mario, is a taller man with light skin, red hair with slight sideburns, a black mustache, blue eyes and the same clothing Mario is, except that his hat and shirt are green instead of red and there is a letter "M" on his hat. He is shrugging, confused as Mario is by the egg. Behind them are three tall trees lined up, bearing strange fruit that look like apples with yellow spots, and with a partially blocked sign on one tree saying something about Mario and Yoshi. They are standing on grass, with the blue sky and some blurry clouds behind them.]

I just realized that the reason I always favored Luigi when I was growing up was because he wasn't fat.

Um. I just noticed this reading the transcript... do Mario and Luigi always have red hair? I guess with the big black moustaches I never paid attention to the hair under their hats. It's red?! I have never owned any form of gaming platform and have played maybe a dozen games of Brawl at parties in my life (but I'm usually Kirby or Link).

Do I fail at pop culture osmosis or is this picture atypical? D:

I always assumed they were the same weight but Mario was just shorter.

I mean he runs around and stomps on things all the time so you can't really accuse him of laziness.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-17 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
OP didn't say anything about weight.

If they're the same weight but one of them's shorter, then either Mario is overweight or Luigi is underweight.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-17 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Only he is, he's only taller.

And considering the tall is mainly his legs and head, he really is just about as fat.

But go you for judging people on appearance even as a kid. I feel for you.

Luigi has been shown to be thinner than Mario in some artwork,
but you chose a bad picture to make this point.

not op

(Anonymous) 2013-08-17 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure I had seen artwork where they have different body types, so thanks for confirming that!

I was all like "did I dream that or" because of the other comments.

It seems that they've made Mario slimmer over time too, no?

Is this an excuse to talk about MARIO AND LUIGI: DREAM TEAM?? Y/Y?

(I haven't gotten far in it, alas. Still doing the user's guide segment.)

I haven't even been able to start it yet, but I've heard the amount of gameplay on it is insane, so I am psyched.

I am getting near the end of the game, it started slow but it gets really good. I had a feeling I'd like it though because I love Partners in Time and Bowser's inside story.

My only problem is they brought back the giant battles like in Bowser's Inside Story. I hate the stylus with a passion and I find those battles kind of difficult and they tend to hurt my hand.

I only liked him better because I liked green better.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-17 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Ditto. Green's my favorite color, so I went straight for Luigi.

Eh. I like his karts better, mind.

And I Just Now Realized...

(Anonymous) 2013-08-17 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That was why I didn't like him. Weird.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-17 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
You're weird Op. But Peach >>>>>> Either of the brothers. And Wario and Waluigi are both better as well.

I like Luigi sometimes because he's the innocent comic relief character, but his appearance? He's a fat little cartoon sprite, just like Mario.

Mario always read as short more than anything to me.

Also, I always thought Luigi was a pain in the ass to control. And I'd rather be Yoshi than anyone else, if he's an option.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
I've always liked Luigi (still do, actually, he will always be my favorite Nintendo character ever) since since I was five. My sister wanted to be Player 1, so being the older sister, I generously let her take the first controller (this is Super Mario World) while I stuck with Player 2. I played Luigi for so long I just grew attached to him. The old DiC cartoons also helped. XD
