(Anonymous) 2013-08-23 01:26 am (UTC)(link)I have only seen people get hate for hating on Swift when they really called her a "slut" or "whore".

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)Anyways, it's not slut shaming [or misogyny] to dislike her because how she treats her exes. It is pretty icky the way she handles it, imo.

I dislike them both for the same reason - they shame their exes, whether it's through the media or through song. However I get more flack for not liking Taylor Swift, because apparently it makes me a slut-shaming misogynist. Really? I think they're both douchebags and hate them equally!

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)There's one where she complains an ex is letting his new GF drive his truck, but never let TS do so. And all I can think is, "Maybe you sucked at driving? Maybe his insurance didn't cover another driver at the time? Maybe - GASP - he turned out to like someone better than you and trusted her more?" Maybe you're not entitled to drive someone else's car just because you're dating them?
Maybe I would hate the songs less if the fans of hers I know didn't act like she's an infallible goddess, too...

(Anonymous) 2013-08-23 01:33 am (UTC)(link)Go out into the real world and you'll see that you can hate on Taylor Swift as much as you want. It's a well established joke by now to point out how she only dates guys to break up with them and write a song about them.
And even on F!S I've seen nothing but people mocking her and shaking their heads at her behaviour.
This SJW army you speak of, it only persecutes you in your mind.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)And I do find it interesting, her image and the contrast between the squeaky-clen, infallible, perfect, larger-than-life elements with some of its weirder elements. I don't know if I'm a fan but I do like her and I think that is a large part of why (and also the fact that I think she makes really, really good pop music, and also if we're being honest probably the fact that she's really, really pretty).
I was reading a review of a Taylor Swift concert and it was legitimately compared to a political rally in terms of the imagery and the scale and the passion. I mean, say what you will about Taylor Swift, but that is interesting.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)THEIR exes, though.
(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)*contraction, meaning "they are"
†possessive, meaning "belonging to them"

(Anonymous) 2013-08-23 12:43 am (UTC)(link)Re: THEIR exes, though.
(Anonymous) 2013-08-23 12:58 am (UTC)(link)The use of the wrong variant was incredibly distracting for me in this secret.
Re: THEIR exes, though.
(Anonymous) 2013-08-23 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)Should I be happy that I have one pet peeve less to stumble over, or should I be worried?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-23 01:01 am (UTC)(link)So, I dunno. I want to agree with this secret, because it's sensible. But, at the same time, I completely understand the sentiment and purpose behind songs that "shame" exes. Conundrum.*
*...maybe not, because when pressed, I will honestly say that I do not like either Mayer or Swift.
