Everyone is offering you alternatives to just having the audio, and that's really nice of them.

For me personally, though, can I just say I don't like audio-only canon? It's hard to keep track of, and I prefer books/tv/movies. As interesting as WtNV sounds, I wish it was in literally any other format.

Isn't audio-only canon kind of like written-word-only canon though? Both use only words.

The creators have said that a comic book is in the works, so maybe you can check it out then!

audio-only is still different than written word because it lacks the visual aspect a lot of people need.

Yeah, this is what I can't understand either. Words are words, whether I'm seeing them or hearing them. I don't get why it would make a difference.

But then I'm also the sort of person who can't listen to music with lyrics while I'm trying to write or do other work because I find myself listening to the lyrics instead of it just being background noise.

I think it's really how those words are getting to the brain. Like, I've always been a good student through reading the text, and I can read quickly while still understanding. But I easily miss words or get distracted when spoken to. I've never bothered with audio books for this reason, on the few occasions I got them as gifts I was either bored or frustrated from missing things. I have been able to enjoy Night Vale, because I found something mindless I can do while listening to the episodes so I don't get distracted, but I'm also pretty sure I don't remember as much about it as I would if it were text.

This.

It took me like what, twenty years to stop having anxiety attacks over phone calls? Nothing else phases me whatsoever.
