The writers/directors/producers more than ANYONE ELSE. I feel like except for nu!Kirk, the other actors could have pulled it off with a script/direction that actually felt like Trek (especially Urban and Pegg.)

Ditto. IMO, what really worked with the first one was the crew interactions. STID had so much action, they didn't have time for half the characters, and the film felt like generic action.
