What made you think that it was appropriate to say that everyone who disagrees with you about a video game deserves to die

what the fuck is humanly wrong with you

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you played it? Saying this is a feminist game is like handing a copy of irreversible to a highly triggerable rape survivor and saying "You'll enjoy this"

It's a brutal slap in the face.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Why do you gotta troll like this?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm actually not trolling, although after re-reading the comment I do agree it was far too hyperbolic a comparison. I apologise for that.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That doesn't mean it's okay to wish someone dead.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Says you. It's not like I have a magic lamp and these people are actually going to die.

I'm angry, I am taking my anger out on these people by posting an angry rant on the internet. Why do you feel you get to say this is "not ok"

Who the fuck made you the internet police?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That doesn't matter. It doesn't make it okay.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Again, says you.
I say it does make it ok. Now you have to show me your "Police of the internet" badge, or fuck off.

Now cut this shit before I gotta beat you with my nightstick. You can assume it's phallic oppressive ententre of the patriarchy if you want. Or maybe it's a nightstick. Whatever silences you.

It's hyperbole. Go step on a lego.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Hyperbole is one thing, but being hyperbolic to the point that you're using ultraviolence as a rhetorical technique is probably not the best

(Anonymous) 2013-08-31 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Never really understood people's upset at this one. Calling colourful curses down on people for rhetorical effect is a universal humans have been doing since forever. How can you read that as a threat or a call to arms?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-31 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's a threat or a call to arms, I think it's disproportionate and overblown. I don't have a problem with hyperbole or colorful curses, but I do think that you should on some level match the level of curse you use to what you're cursing, and if you want to damn people to die in horrifying pain, it better be something damn serious you're cursing about. Not "disagrees with me about a video game." And going to that well just seems to me to inflame things needlessly, and to go out of all proportion.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Hyperbole! Do you speak it, motherfucker?

Sheesh...

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I am aware that the poster probably does not actually wish anyone to die painfully

It's still kind of a dumb, incredibly disproportionate thing to say

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. You really can't find ways to express your anger other than wishing someone dead? OBVIOUSLY you can't reach through the screen and kill people; doesn't mean it's an okay thing to say.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so angry. Ooo, so angry. Let me stamp my little foot.

Um, yeah, not nearly so satisfying as some ranty, OTT hyperbole.
