Frost is so underrated as an actor. I think it is because his characters feel so natural, it doesn't come across as *ACTING!!!*

Still haven't been able to go see this :(

Oops - I meant to reply to the OP, but I guess I can tell you too

OP
Having really only seen him in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Paul I kind of thought he could only do cartoonish comic relief, so I was blown away by him in this. Like, there wasn't one part where I didn't believe his character's reaction to events or friendship with Gary. <3

Nick Frost is utterly adorable so I completely understand, OP!

I love him anyway, but yeah he was great in this movie.

[Picture is the cast of the movie "The World's End", with the actors Martin Freeman (marked with blue by the secret maker), Paddy Considine, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost (marked with pink by the secret maker) and Eddie Marsan?. They are five men walking all side by side in a park or on a street with a large tree.]

Saw the movie expecting to fancy Martin Freeman's character... And came out with a big ol' crush on Nick Frost's. Apparently I have a thing for big guys wrestle-slamming robots?

Bonus Secret: Nick Frost's acting was amazing too!

He was probably the best thing about that film.

How good/bad is the movie? My friends really liked Shaun of the Dead and when the trailer came out we said we'd see it, but everyone's kind of forgotten. Should I remind everyone of this movie or quietly wait until it's not showing in theaters anymore?

IMO, this one wasn't as good as Shaun of the Dead and/or Hot Fuzz. It had its moments but I felt vaguely sad after seeing it since, at its heart, several of the characters were dealing with some serious real-life issues that, for me, eclipsed the humor.

But that's just me and I know some people who absolutely adored it.

It's got some heavy issues in it (as in would have trigger warnings it it was a fanfic), but I thought it was great. In fact, I think I liked it more than Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, and it definitely works as a kind of end to the trilogy, even if none of them have much in common.

I haven't seen it, but a friend of mine said it requires a bit more knowledge of Britishisms to get all of the humor. Particularly near the end. (A bit more than for SotD or HF, that is.)

tbh I was a bit disappointed. For me it lacked the charm of Shaun and Fuzz. I want to see it again to make up my mind completely but to me it didn't fit with the other 2 as part of the trilogy. I found Peggs character unlikeable for the most part and found myself wanting to know more about the rest of the ensemble. I think the bromance between Simon and Nicks character that usually is a major factor was really not there until the end. It was depressing both in the issues that it raised as well as the relatability to the characters. Oh and in regards to the secret I think Martin stole the show imo.
I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either.

omg so late

but OMFG WATCH IT. It was amaaaaaaaaazing. Remind them!

He was definitely my favourite character. I don't know if I felt good about his character arc? it was kind of all over the place. There was a surprising amount of heavy shit in that movie...

I don't know what it is with the British and estate agents, always a punchline.

I haven't seen this yet, but Nick Frost is awesome, yo. I love him so much.

Nick Frost completely blew me away in The Worlds End. I'm with you, I don't know why I wasn't expecting that. I think I tend to underrate Nick Frost, even in my own mind. It wasn't until I watched Hot Fuzz for the eight-millionth time that I realized Danny is my favorite character in the movie!

Nick Frost is amazing and deserves all the credit. Haven't seen the film yet, but he's very good at what he does so this doesn't surprise me at all. Now I wanna watch Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz again.

Holy shit, both look uglier than I remember them

I've had a huge crush on Nick Frost since Shaun of the Dead. Yes, I fancied him in a film where he's a stoner turned drooling zombie :P

Totally agreed. His character was my favorite from this movie. :)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-03 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I inexplicable felt a bit attracted to Simon Pegg, which was weird because although I love him, I really don't fancy him normally. But I agree that Nick Frost was amazing!

(Anonymous) 2013-09-03 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Nick Frost is a sexy bear. I don't go for fat guys but he has the body type to wear all the weight the right way. I've had a crush on him since Spaced. If there's ever a movie where he and Simon Pegg play a gay couple, I'll die from feels, but they're my favorite BroTP, in real life and in their movies. With Edgar Wright, they truly are THE HOLY TRINITY.

Why is that a secret? he is utterly adorable! I also never really understood what was the big deal with MF, but that's me
