That being said... I wonder what your opinion is on characters that were mentioned but never met in canon. Do they count as OCs since we don't know anything about them and the author is building them pretty much from the ground up? (ie Coulson's cellist)

The "warning" isn't a declaration of quality; it's common fucking courtesy in an environment where most people want to exclusively read about characters that have already been established.
