WORD! That was my favorite childhood movie. I wish I could find it somewhere. D:

Also, yay FMA secrets? >.>

35. IT DOES? *runs to the Pit of Voles*

(Anonymous) 2007-10-10 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Why did you have to use "Hai means Yes in Japanese" as your background?!? I LOL'D SO HARD

3. OH MY GOD THEY'RE DISCUSSING ANIME/GAMES, THEY'RE THE CANCER KILLING THE WORLD!

20. NEVER FOUND THE FUCKING SUBS ON YOUTUBE. The series has made me pissed off at some characters, though. FUCK YOU TEPPEI, WHY DO YOU TREAT SATOKO LIKE THIS?

29. ahahahaha

[identity profile] haleysings.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
1. I kind of feel the same way. I understand why people are used to it, but his name is SUPPOSED to be the english word 'Light'...yes, the Japanese pronounce it 'Raito', but if they were going to write it using roman letters, I'd be surprised if they didn't write it 'Light'.

2. Yeah, it happens. ^^; I actually play a character from a fairly unpopular anime, though, and he sometimes gets quite a few comments on his posts. Sometimes it just depends on who the character knows, what their personality is like, how long they've been on the RP, etc. And it all comes down to what catches the other muns' eyes. Don't let it discourage you.

3. Um...why? What's wrong with talking about your hobbies IRL?

4. ...You sound like you would like School Days.

7. Same. XD;; I'm selfish.

10. PRINCESS TUTU!! ♥♥ Yeah, I kinda wish he hadn't've said that, because it DOES make the show sound worse than it actually is. The thing, though? Zac's actually championed the show and scolded fans for not buying the singles when they orignally came out. Between him, the forum members and Key (one of ANN's reviewers), the site is actually VERY pro-Tutu, and Answerman is a part of it. And to be honest? I think your boyfriend's avoidance of the show speaks more about his personality than Answerman's. ^^; Maybe he wouldn't be so bothered by it if he wasn't insecure in his masculinity? No offense, and I'm sure he's a great guy, but it sounds like it's more his issue. Don't blame Answerman for that. (I know, tl;dr.)

13. That's great! I love it when fiction can help people through tough times...that makes it seem like it's worthwhile, you know? I want to be a novelist, so it's nice to know that stories like that can make an impact...

17. ...I want to see this anime soley for the puppets. o.o; Those are cool.

29. Thank you. I really, REALLY needed to laugh today, and I laughed HARD. XDDD

30. The only time I've had a character use memes in his dialogue is on curse days where the characters HAVE to talk like that. Almost all of the characters I play are from a 1900's-esque time period, and it'd just be WEIRD. XD;; Do people seriously do this...? I mean, for characters that are, like...hackers, or the type to get caught up in internet stuff, I get it, but...

31. I don't like those uniforms, but I love some of the other ones. Like the Ouran middle-school uniforms, or the Kinkan Academy uniforms in Princess Tutu (ASCOTS!!! <333), or the uniforms in DNAngel...yeah, IAWTS.

32. I LOVE THAT SHOW, TOO! Although I don't ship them, but yeah...I work at a daycare and watched it once when there wasn't any kids around and it made me so happy...particularly to see Pluto called a planet. XD

35. I say rock on. XD Reading assignments are often assigned for a reason!

2. I won't deny that this happens. It happens to me more often than I'd like, but I don't let it get to me. But you know, it's a problem inherent to LJ RPs, and there's really not a lot you can do about it. I'm in another RP where the cliques are ridiculous and you have to go way out of your way to interact with anybody (admittedly, I don't care much about that game and don't try very hard, but I have seen others get frustrated). Overall, I think that CFUD tends to be pretty good about not ignoring people.

There's a lot that goes into what makes a post popular or not. Since you're talking about popularity specifically, yeah, that's going to happen. Take your example - we're talking about a character who's been in camp for a month versus one that's been around for years. It's not elitism; the latter character simply has more relationships. But there's a lot more to it than popularity! Shiny new canons get more attention than old canons; posts made during prime time get more attention than posts made during weird hours; posts that inspire quick, easy replies will get more attention than posts that leave a player wondering how to comment.

And SOME POSTS JUST FLOP. It's the nature of the beast. There's a previous post made by that same character that same month, and it had 366 comments. Anyway, do you REALLY want hundreds of comments in every post? There are times when it can be a real pain.

There are valid reasons not to app at CFUD, but honestly, I don't think this is one of them. Even if the character is from an obscure/unpopular canon, an active player can make it work, and these single-digit posts are DEFINITELY in the minority.

10. Aww, your boyfriend is missing out. However, I've gotta echo other people here: it's not so much Answerman's comment. Because, along with the whole "Princess Tutu = threat to your masculinity = man, that's sad" thing...

If I avoided shows due to the premise alone, I'd miss out on a lot of good anime. I'd have skipped Princess Tutu, Utena, Ouran, and Fruits Basket for being too girly; Brigadoon for being too cartoony; Uta~Kata for being too fanservicey; Fafner for giant robot syndrome... I could go on.

ANYWAY. If you still want to try to pique his interest, I'd suggest showing him the "Håll Om Mig Nu" AMV? Because if he's not the slightest bit interested after that, he may be a lost cause. Here's a sendspace link for it:

I support this comment. That music video totally rocks hardcore.

I'm a male and I can't wait to get my hands on this series. Yeah, it's ballet and about a duck but I hear the story is just made of such awesome and win that to miss it, is to miss something truly special.

Anime is not Hanna Barbara. That's something that people who are reluctant to get into anime seem to forget. I've had my mind blown away by some anime plots and stories and looking at the animation alone to make the decision is to miss out on a lot.

1. My friend and I have decided that 'Raito' sounds like a delicious brand of cereal. "Raito's- They're deliciously deadly!"

8. I do that too.

32. I've shipped them since I started reading that series. They were perfect for each other. Magic School Bus is awesome.

10. So what's wrong with girly?
(I haven't seen Princess Tutu myself, but even if it isn't "girly", you should probably tell your boyfriend that he's missing out on a lot if he avoids anything described that way.)

36!

I just found Care Bears Movie 2 on tape! And dude, I'm totally consitering RPing Dark Heart now, even though all my friends are like 'lol, you can't RP a character from a Care Bears movie. Dark Heart/Christy forever! :D

28. What game is that about? :O

28 OP

(Anonymous) 2007-10-11 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's Hotel Dusk: Room 215, for the Nintendo DS. You can read about it on the Amazon page (http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-NTRPAWIE-Hotel-Dusk-Room/dp/B000KRXA28/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-9147448-5883233?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1192063614&sr=8-1), which probably explains it better than I could :B It's really a great game, though -- excellent writing and storyline, the dialogue is very fluent and isn't forced. It miiiight start off a little bit slow, but trust me, after a couple of chapters, you can't put it down. EATING AND SLEEPING BECOME PETTY DISTRACTIONS

But yeah, definitely recommend it.

Yeah, that stuff's pretty offsetting -- though I can guarantee it happens at every RP. Happens everywhere, actually. Some secrets here won't even get a shout out or agree/disagree -- if because of how they were crafted, who decides to check the comm, who knows what it's about that sort of stuff.

I mean, look at me, I see a [livejournal.com profile] damned secret and a [livejournal.com profile] campfuckudie secret and decide to comment on those.

ON THAT TOPIC OTL I wish I had the balls had the time or. something to keep up with [livejournal.com profile] damned someone lend me their awesome to keep up, kay? Kay. There's so many plots whizzing around. It's totally awesome and if I didn't have highspeed internet I think I might never be able to catch up not like I am right now lol I blame school.
