Living in a bad neighborhood still doesn't mean there aren't roommates who won't kill you. Living in a good neighborhood doesn't mean your roommates won't kill you. That's what happens when you live with strangers, and it is a risk everyone takes.

It's not anybody's problem but your own that your requirements eliminated so many options. Don't act like you were forced to make that decision.

There's a difference between risk and certainty, and you're obviously conflating the two. No one chooses to be a murder victim. Many people choose situations that put them at risk of murder, however, because that's how being an adult works. Safety is not a guarantee.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)The problem with your argument is that it operates under the assumption that having roommate is a guarantee you'll have a cheaper place to live, and that's really not the case. When you have a roommate who doesn't pay their bills (and all of my roommates except one have been like that), you're still living by yourself financially. You're just paying double the price and not getting the benefit of privacy.
