Re: Anxiety suggestions?

It sounds overly simple, but really focus on your breathing. Count or whatever you need to do, but just focus on breathing in and then out, slowly.

I used to just roll my eyes whenever people talked about "don't forget to breath!" but after passing out one time I started to pay attention and yeah, when my anxiety gets bad and the heartrate goes up and tunnel vision starts etc, turns out I wasn't breathing all that well. Short nervous breaths which just aggravated the whole situation.

I also have a few "nervous tics" that help me. Tapping my finger against the palm of my hand in a certain pattern - just something that I can do to kind of get the jittery nervous feeling out and also have part of my brain concentrate on seems to help.

OP

I appreciate the suggestion, but I'm kind of susceptible to vasovagal faints, so I've found that when I try to lower my breathing and concentrate, my body takes it in the opposite direction and drops my heart rate way too low.

I will try to focus on my breathing before I get super nervous, though.

Listening to really loud music with a heavy guitar and drum line helps keep my focus on the music, and keep me distracted.
