Ah. Fandom Oppression Olympics. It is like opressionception.

People can complain about the slim chances of their pairing all they want (as long as they are not being hateful).

I don't care if it is an interracial slash pairing or a heterosexual white pairing. Loving a pairing and knowing it is unlikely to happen is disappointing.

It is both disappointing, and also not a major social justice issue.

(Agree with everything in your post)

I bet OP is the kind of person who tries to one up everyone's stories.

"Wow. You broke you arm as a kid? Let me tell you about the time I broke both my legs."
"Your grandma died last week? I lost all my grandparents at once in a tragic golfing accident."
"Your dog was hit by a car? My cat was thrown into a box, where it gave birth to a litter of 14 kittens. That box was then picked up by a hawk, dropped onto some train tracks, and hit by a train."

Ugh, I can't stand people like that. It makes me want to carry around a sheet of gold star stickers so that I can place a sticker on them and say, "Congrats. Here's your gold star. You won this round. Now can we get back to what I was saying?"

Yeah. It's one thing if you're sharing injury/death of a relative/illness stories in a conversation or if you tell someone something, especially if it's to get something off your chest, and they go and try to make your problems/story all about themself.

I haaaate people like that

"And then what remained of the box fell over, caught fire, and sank into the swamp."

"AND I BROKE BOTH MY LEGS TRYING TO RETRIEVE IT!"

(Anonymous) 2013-09-21 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
But an infection set in from the swamp water and they were going to have to amputate.

But I had no insurance, so they arranged for my legs to be bitten off by a giant squid.

But the squid was on vacation so they called on two cuttlefish and a fiddler crab with an unusually large claw and the anesthesia turned out to be a couple of hits off of a helium filled birthday balloon.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-21 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
But the balloon was filled with hydrogen, which was ignited by the remains of the burning box o'kittens.

Why does it matter if it's not canon? Honestly, some shippers have no sticking power. If you love your ship, it being canon is irrelevant, indeed I'd argue its non canonicity is the whole point.
