SPN: Two male leads, Hannibal: Two male leads, Sleepy Hollow:One male lead, one female PoC who isn't a love interest.

I'd rather see Sleepy Hollow over those two any day. I sort of dislike the fandom name, though. "Sleepy heads". I think Hollowers sounds nicer.

idc what the show is about. I just know it is every-fucking-where and people apparently have no idea how to tag it for my blacklists.

I just looked at Wikipedia. As far as I can see, the principal is "Guy from the 1700s wakes up in 2013, and has to fight an evil ghost again".

I am wondering how much the series will have of how out-of-place Ichabod is, and how much he has to adjust to the 21st century and all the technology.

That last is basically what I'm watching this show for. It's hilarious and kind of adorable, and it was like a solid third of the pilot so... I have high hopes.

Yeah, I went and found the pilot on the website of the channel airing it here and watched it. I like how they treat Ichabod's fish-out-of-water situation.

given FOX's track record i HIGHLY doubt abbie is going to avoid love-interest territory if the show lasts

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
She's going to be a love interest eventually though. There's an interview with the creators where they talk about how there's definitely going to be a "will they/won't they" element. Disappointing.

Oh well, at least they're honest about it. The first time I saw the advert, I knew that's what it was going to be because hell if I can remember a series with a male-female duo that didn't go that route. Honestly, I'm so tired of that dynamic. Can't a show have a man and woman work together or be friends without that? It happens IRL a lot. Really. But in TV land, no straight men and women can work together without wanting to go to bed with each other.

You might want to check out Elementary for guy/girl platonic stuff.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, just because they have a woman and a man as a lead doesn't automatically make it a better or more interesting show. That's not how writing works. And it's sad that people think like this.

DA

Yet premises with two male leads can do no wrong. No one ever questions characterizations of male characters the way they do female ones. I agree with AYRT; with SH and Elementary showing positive, strong, and (as yet) non-sexual male/female dynamics is fucking refreshing and I'm eating it up.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
What the fuck fandoms are you in? SPN and Sherlock BOTH have a shit ton of criticism towards plot/characterization/etc.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but this female male lead show just happens to be more interesting at the moment. I'm loving this far more than the "Oh my god, I hope the woman Cas sleeps with is hated on and reviled because she has a vagina and it isn't Dean's penis!"

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you kidding me? Hannibal is so fucking good, one of the most interesting shows right now. Don't compare it to SPN and Sleepy Hollow.

Don't compare it to SPN and Sleepy Hollow.

Dude, Sleepy Hollow has had one episode. You can compare it to everything at this point, even your sacred Hannibal.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-23 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not saying Hannibal is awesome or something but I don't know why somebody would compare it to Supernatural and Sleepy Hollow because it's a different genre. I guess cause it's creepy or what?

Yeah, I love both SPN and Hannibal, and they're nothing alike. Hannibal has some supernatural imagery going on here and there, but they're not dealing with literal, non-human monsters.

It has a fandom name already? I am continually impressed/scared by the speed of these things...
