Right now I am going with Welcome to Night Vale. What a cesspool of hate. At least SPN and Sherlock keep their attacks to pairings and crossovers. Not attacking people personally for their art (CARLOS ISN'T DARK ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!! WHY IS YOUR CECIL WHITE? YOU FUCKING RACIST ASSHOLE!!!!!!! *spams young artist with hate mail and death threats in the name of Social Justice*)

Sometimes the Supernatural fandom scares me, but yeah, it's actually not that bad from what I've seen.

I usually stick to the fringes of fandoms, so I'm not really sure which would qualify as the worst. I found the TGWTG fandom to be the most disappointing fandom I ever tried to interact with. Dunno if it's the worst though.

I can't even with the Night Vale fandom right now. I don't remember ever being involved in a fandom that has gotten this bad. Though Glee CrissColfer mess got really bad at one time.

Oh? What happened with Glee? Do tell.

As much as I hate to say it, I agree. Supernatural was bad, but this fandom is worse</>.

:( I just started listening to night vale in the hopes that it would be a nice place for me to get back into being in fandom.

But then I can't stand tumblr so I don't know how I thought I would get be in a current fandom again. Oh well.

If you want to just reblog Night Vale art then you'll be fine in the fandom. Just be careful who you follow and don't go in the tags.

If you want discussion I would say come here or talk to friends in real life about it.

I'd like to say that as long as you don't go on Tumblr, the fandom is perfectly nice and the fic is fantastic. And the podcasts themselves are great, of course. Tumblr's always been pretty much a cesspool to me anyway, regardless of topic.

The WTNV fandom is a strange place. Half of it is great fanart and fanfiction and the other half is foaming at the mouth rabid. I don't see much of the raving on my dash anymore, but it pops up every now and then.

At this point, I mostly feel bad for the creators. Sure, they managed to get a big audience, but at what cost? AT WHAT COST??

Their soul. :C

I feel so bad for Cecil Baldwin the voice actor since fandom has give the character that last name and the hate tied with it is horrible.

The WTNV fandom is a strange place.

I'd say "strange" is really fitting considering the source material, but then again, the fandom isn't strange: it's nuts.

I feel exactly the same. I hope nothing bad truly happens and leave the internet. It's worrisome.

Ugh Night Vale, I don't even know what the hell happened. Okay I do know, but I mean, *shakes head*

I've always managed to stay out of the bad side of fandoms for the most part but I've only in the past few months started actually actively using Tumblr an it's just...wow the hate.

I stay out of the shitty fandoms ;) I had no idea Night Vale's was that bad, and I'd been getting curious about the show. Now I know to stay away from the fandom, at least!

I only just started listening to Night Vale but I've already heard such awful things about the fandom on tumblr (which doesn't surprise me, sadly) that I'm just going to enjoy it with RL people instead.

I know the HP fandom has died down but with the announcement of the new movies, things are starting to rev up again and I'm just waiting for the wank to start up, although I think some of it already has? They're setting it in 1920s New York and people are already calling it a racist film if it doesn't have a black protagonist in it or something like that.

All this stuff with WTNV confuses the hell out of me. Am I just following the wrong people? I only see cool art/fic and some shiny headcanon popping out sometimes... and most people agree that they are headcanons indeed, so it's totally right if you don't. You know. Have the same?

Maybe it's because I don't go into the tags?

omfg, man. I started listening to WTNV a week ago and naively checked the tag to scope out its fandom and was stunned by how hateful and batshit it was. I feel bad for the creators that this is their audience now.
