Because some people suffer from a genuine lack of intelligence and/or understanding and do not get that racism = discrimination + power differential based on race.

Aspects of social life suck for redheads in the UK; haters perpetuating stereotypes and preventing gingers from entering clubs obviously do harm them, but there is no systematic injustice built into the system, and witness the perfectly representative number of redheads who are CEOs and Ministers.

go back to tumblr, you social justice retard.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
that's a perfectly reasonable post, what are you on about

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
...I think you should reread the comment you replied to.

We have social justice blogs and then we have ableist people like you who pick and choose what is and isn't offensive. I don't know which one is more irritating. You, definitely.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well then mission accomplished. It's way too easy to piss you retards off.

Racism = discrimination based or race.

But since Ginger is not a race, it's discrimination.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but the majority of red-heads are white. White = race

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Key word: majority. White people aren't the only ones who can be born ginger.

But the majority of white people are not redheads. Discrimination against redheads specifically is not discrimination against white people in general.

Redheads are actually prevented from entering clubs in the UK? Actual haters? Does that stem from the old divide with Ireland and ~all Irish are redheads and all redheads Irish~? Because yeah, we have blonde stereotypes too and I know that gingers sometimes are the butt of a joke, but that does seem a little extreme...

Though yeah, I don't think racism is the right word for that.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
lmao, I live in the UK and have never heard of such a thing. And I'm ginger. I can only assume this poster is lying. Or this was an isolated incident or a bad joke.

Yeah, we get some shit, but it's hardly serious. /eyeroll

The family I once stayed with in England had a redheaded father and daughter who both referred to themselves as ginger. The occasional ginger or red-headed stepchild jokes from other family members and friends was as "bad" as it got, so both the secret and the anon's response had me going o.O

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know much about this issue, but your argument that it can't be true because YOU have never seen it is just plain stupid.

Y'all need to come to the States, we love redheads here. Ginger men are HOTTT (I have a lot of red hair in my family so I have a great affection for them.)

Does that stem from the old divide with Ireland and ~all Irish are redheads and all redheads Irish~?

I've only ever encountered that stereotype in the USA for some reason; I guess it's more associated with Scotland in the UK (and rightly so as Scotland has more redheads than Ireland). seriously one of my most common interactions with strangers is them going 'Are you Irish?' and me just saying 'No.'

(Anonymous) 2013-10-06 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Plus the Tartan army wear those ginger fizzy wigs, so they play that stereotype up as well.

That definition was developed by a white academic who goes around getting paid big bucks as a corporate consultant.

So...

(Also I don't think you're getting the joke)

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Who developed it? Completely out of curiosity, I'm not trying to start anything. :3

Oh, go away. Ordinary people say 'racism' in everyday conversation meaning 'discrimination that is based on race, regardless of whether it's at an individual or systemic level or what the power differential may be.' You SJW's all know this perfectly well and understand exactly what they mean, and yet you still try to derail the conversation and seize a patch of nonexistent moral high ground by nit-picking fine academic distinctions that are meaningless to everybody else.

Stop it. You're not accomplishing anything of value, you're just pissing people off.
