I only watched it becaue I was bored and it kept popping up here and I'm completely hooked. The bad guys/monster of the week freak me out SO much and I handle horror really badly (I did not have this kind of problem with Buffy and Supernatural and I don't think that Sleepy Hollows monsters are objectively any more scary than SPN's, but they just get me so much worse), but I still love the show very much so far. The two main characters are great on their own, but together they're amazing.

Plus, I like that Mills doesn't have to work at cross purposes to her fellow police officers to hide what's really going on. There's something freaky going on the town, her boss realises this even if he officially no one admits it and it's now her job to deal with it because the crazy guy with the British accent imprinted on her like a baby duckling.

This. I don't think I'd consciously pinged on it, but I do love that element. I may still be in love with Agent Scully, but "rational" people sucking it up and accepting the evidence that Weird Stuff Is Going Down is one of my favorite things on supernatural shows. It's a big part of why I was so quick to fall in love with The River.

Your last sentence is the most perfect summary of this show imaginable.
