Re: tw rape, csa -- what do you do when someone in a dw comm admits to that?

Going by my own experience, when you're depressed you begin dragging up all sorts of things you can theoretically feel guilty about that may have been lurking in the back of your mind for ages. So that would be my theory on why you're thinking of it now.

There isn't anything you can do at this point -- the other anon covered why. And I think that since it was in the past when he admitted it, there wasn't a moral imperative to do anything.

If you come across someone claiming to be currently abusing a child, and you're in the US, you could send everything to the FBI's exploited children program.

And if it makes you feel better, the guy might have been lying. I'm not sure why someone would, but then I'm not sure why someone would admit to the truth, either.

OP here... Apparently he's living in New Mexico, but I guess knowing that doesn't change much? I should have expected there's nothing that can be done--everything else I've read has said that too--but it's difficult to accept.

I think your theory's right on the mark. I hear about things like this and I feel guilty, like, maybe I could have done something--even though that's irrational.

Anyway, I do hope he's lying, for whatever reason. It'd at least be better than the alternative.

I'll be sure to remember that FBI thing.
