TV shows
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland seems interesting but I won't hold out for it.
Revolution, which was always up and down for me, still leave me with way more questions each week than answers (I'm still curious what happened between Miles and Rachel in the past)
Revenge, it's okay, I just keep watching as my guilty pleasure.
Nashville is my favorite show on the air, but mostly because I love watching it with my mom. i find it has a few too many storylines and is trying to juggle all of them at once and usually forgets about one an episode.
So any other opinions on TV shows airing? Thoughts on the ones I mentioned?
Re: TV shows
So far I'm liking season 9 of Supernatural.
That's all I'm watching right now.
Re: TV shows
I gave up on Revolution last season. It just didn't grip me enough.
Revenge is going back to basics it seems, so I'm pleasantly surprised. I don't care about the Daniel/Jack/Aiden love triangle tho. Emily is the fiercest when she's not tied down by one of them. Nolan keeps being the best of all with his muffins and clothing choices.
I'm watching season 1 of Nashville actually, and I really like it. I like seeing three females fighting to make it/keep their place in the music industry. From what I've watched, it seems really female positive, which is great.
Re: TV shows
Revolution is a show I also watch just because. It's actually what got me started on reading lots of "doomsday" fiction and all of them deal with the subject of "no more bullets, let's ration them!" but Revolution just is always swinging guns about. There's a lot wrong with the show and I pretty much just watch when I'm bored and then I keep watching because there are so many questions!
OMG Nolan and his muffins! I also like that Jack finally knows about Emily, though I don't care for the Emily/Daniel thing. I'm hoping Revenge just lasts this year and no more than a fourth season otherwise the plots are going to get way out of hand. Not sure how I feel about Patrick yet.
Keep watching Nashville! It is a very female driven show. The men sort of all revolve around the women. Really, if you're a country music fan it's great. Plus it's actually shot in Nashville, apparently, and I love the city so much.
Re: TV shows
Jack finding out about Emily was great. I'm glad they're not randomly a happy family since he found out. I hope that Jack finding out about her will give him something to do this season as well. I have always found him boring.
Nolan's circle of muffins made me lol.
I can't see the show going past season 4 or even 5. I don't know how they'd keep the plot running either.
I'm not sure what Patrick's agenda is, but I'm here for him being Nolan's love interest (that seems the route that the show is headed to). I like that he's a bit snarky and isn't putting up with anyone's crap. I also liked Justin Hartley on Smallville and Patrick reminds me of his character Oliver Queen.
I will! I am not the biggest country fan, but I have enjoyed all the songs on the show so far.

Re: TV shows
Trophy Wife is good and I'm enjoying it, but I still think it Gould be about ten times funnier considering Sarah Haskin's work on Target Women. I'm gonna go ahead and blame it on the higher ups.
Did not think Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was very good, but I've only seen the first episode. Part of it is just that I'm ridiculously attached to my ridiculous headcanon that the Cheshire Cat is basically god in Wonderland.
The Goldbergs is very uneven for me the third episode where he saw the scary movie was hilarious, though.
Re: TV shows
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland seems like they were trying to milk the success of Once Upon a Time and yet didn't really know how to do that.
The Goldbergs sounds like something I could watch with my parents.
Re: TV shows
(Anonymous) 2013-10-19 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)Pretty much. It was originally supposed to be about the Mad Hatter jumping between worlds, but they couldn't get the actor and there was a mass outcry at the thought of recasting, so they just threw together a new story on the fly.
Re: TV shows
Re: TV shows
Trophy Wife is about a young (late 20s, I think) woman who marries a lawyer (Bradley Whitford) and has to deal with a sudden new family, including his two ex-wives, all of whom are characters in their own right an not just plot devices. It's pretty good and has moments that are truly hilarious, but ultimately I'm not sure id watch it if not for the fact that it was created by Sarah Haskins, and she deserves the success.

Re: TV shows
The first one is lovely due to the perfect Holmes&Watson dynamics. I just. This friendship.
Unlike many Christie fans, I do not resent the direction Poirot has taken in its last two seasons. I think the preceding light-hearted episodes were brilliant, but making the last ones more tragic and serious a) makes sense and b) improves the series as a whole.
Also, I'm not afraid of Poirot's death. He has the right to rest, too.
Sherlock is vastly overrated, but otherwise it is a nice show. I'm interested as to whether Sherlock's emotions in the Reichenbach scene were genuine or feigned. And I don't like the idea of John punching Sherlock during the reunion, but I hope that the creators of the series will be able to make it work... maybe.
But don't even start me on Irene and Moriarty.
And no, I don't believe that John's crush on Sherlock is somehow "canon" because of his conversation with Irene. Actually, it really upsets me that the concept of friendship-crushes tends to be overlooked, and that upon hearing that John "feels the same" everyone assumes that it is romantic love they are talking about. I am not even convinced that Irene's relationship with Sherlock is romantic, although I hate what the creators did to her character and their dynamics.
Re: TV shows
I can't say I've seen Poirot, but I sort of share your sentiments on Sherlock. I enjoy it but definitely overrated. I get annoyed at how short the seasons are and can never keep track of when the next episodes will air.
Re: TV shows
(Anonymous) 2013-10-19 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)The parent show pissed me off this week. Fairies are like the Jedi, apparently, where you have to be kind and compassionate to everyone but if you actually start to like anyone you're screwed. More "destined love" crap -- yes, Regina, you horrible person, leaving poor Robin Hood alone to get happily married to a woman who survived just long enough to fulfill her only purpose in life and produce a child he clearly loves -- made even worse by the contrast with Mulan falling in love the old-fashioned "We've done a lot of stuff together and I like you" way and getting shut down.
I think I'm falling in love with The Michael J. Fox Show. It's not groundbreaking, but it makes me laugh consistently and that's all I ask for.
I haven't watched last night's Haven yet but I am desperately eager to get to it. That show's been knocking it out of the park every week this season.
Re: TV shows
Really, in a comedy I want to laugh. Super Fun Night is not making me laugh. Big Bang Theory stopped making me laugh. Community still made me laugh last season so I wonder if it will hold on.
What's Haven about?

I love Elementary for the Sherlock/Joan dynamic. It's just perfect. I don't even care if they'll eventually go the love interest route (which I honestly doubt, at least for now) because I ship it romantically and platonically. The cases can be somewhat predictable, but at least they're not CSI level of bad.
Sleepy Hollow also has a great dynamic between its leads, and the characters are great. And since I don't know the myths about Sleepy Hollow and Ichabod Crane, nor know anything more helpful than "everybody died. The end. Also, Jesus is judging you. You failed" about the biblical apocalypse I really don't care about how they're mashing up all those different elements.
Agents of Shield is thankfully getting better. Ward is still a bit boring and the male science twin a bit annoying, but over all I'm happy with how the characters have turned out. It's a cheesy show, but now it's a good cheesy, and not a second-hand embarrassment kind of cheesy.
Scandal I only started watching a few days ago and I love it. At first I thought it would be like a Desperate Housewives/Gossip Girl mash-up or something, where everything is about the drama and people are completely ridiculous and over the top, but needless to say, I was very pleasantly surprised. I love all the characters, even the ones I don't like (Mellie, you magnificent bastard. I hate what you're doing but damn, you go girl).
I feel that Revenge is getting more and more ridiculous. I mean, it was always kind of ridiculous, but season two really was kind of over the top. Plus, I loved Amanda and loved that she and Emily were finally past Emily trying to screw up Amanda and Jack's relationship. I just wanted them to be kick-ass sisters. :( And I shipped Daniel/Emily, which was obviously being jossed big time in season two, and with Nolan and Marco not getting back together, which I thought they were going with for a couple of episodes I just kind of lost interest in the show. I really wasn't watching it for the plot. :/
Re: TV shows
Hearing that Agents of Shield is getting better makes me happy. I will be watching that next.
Scandal seems too dramatic for me right now and I have so many other shows. But yes, Revenge is definitely getting more and more ridiculous. Season 2 flopped back and forth with new storylines too much. I just watch it because it's a guilty pleasure right now. That and I keep trying to watch to see how they will top what they did last week.
Re: TV shows
(Anonymous) 2013-10-20 01:33 am (UTC)(link)Ditto on Daniel/Emily- I really liked them together in s1 but they've really decided to back away from that.
Re: TV shows
I was really enjoying Welcome to the Family, but it just got the ax. But Mom and The Michael J. Fox Show are OK, too. I need to catch up on Sleepy Hollow and Agents of SHIELD. My cable keeps cutting out during them, and it's not even worth it to try to watch on TV.
Re: TV shows
I end up watching most of my shows through the on demand service with cable because my internet is spotty in my room.
Re: TV shows
* Deep Space Nine
* Star Trek: TNG
* Elementary
* Defiance
* Firefly (again)
* Seepy Hollow
I have Agents of Shield and Blacklist on my list as well.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-20 12:11 am (UTC)(link)Really hope we get another decent TV Trek series at some point, even though it looks unlikely.

Re: TV shows
(Anonymous) 2013-10-20 03:08 am (UTC)(link)I'm also watching Elementary, as many have mentioned, and I've fallen even more for it since the start of season 2. Possibly because the Joan-Sherlock dynamic has gotten better than ever, but it was great at the start too, tbh. One warning about it is that I don't tend to find the cases particularly fantastic, but it's more than worth it for the two of them and the character stuff you get as a viewer.
Other than that, I'm mostly waiting for other stuff to come back now, like Orphan Black and Justified and a few others, not that I have time for any more tv haha.
(Oh andvampirediariesasaguiltypleasure ahem.)
