Nothing wrong with sharing missing children or cancer awareness. Can you give examples of what you mean?

Well, for example a girl's been found in a Roma camp, and nobody's mentioned it even though there's, you know, actually information. Meanwhile they keep posting urban legends found on snopes about kids who aren't actually missing, and often the posts they're sharing make it... kind of obvious they're fake to begin with.

And there's nothing wrong with breast cancer awareness. It's when people say things like "if you care about breast cancer awareness, post the color of your bra!" That irks me. So my point is that people will share things if everyone else is doing them, but they're hesitant to otherwise.

Gotcha. The bra thing is stupid. I've actually seen posts about the girl kidnapped by the Romani (that's how I first heard about it) and it's been shared. But not as much as other stuff, you're right.

Late but...the thing with breast cancer is that it tends to get the lion's share of attention these days despite everyone knowing it's a [sucky] thing, so spreading "awareness" that it exists [which is generally the most you can say about the vast majority of fb posts that involve it] doesn't do anything, where as dong posts about other - equally, if not more, life threatening diseases - get ignored because they aren't in vogue.

And before the "But they might not know!" - true. But there's still little point to a lot of the posts that are supposedly about breast cancer*.

*I say supposedly since they usually end up reading as "Look how caring I am since I mention supporting getting rid of a disease!" than anything else.
