Re: It is not society's job to raise your kids, people
So I have been googling stuff trying to find leads on my own because I don't currently have health insurance anyway, and last night stumbled across a condition which accounts for many of the symptoms that I've been struggling with for the last couple years. Reading further, one of the causes of said condition is a condition which accounts for ALL THE OTHER SYMPTOMS, WHICH I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING SINCE I WAS NINE, WHICH THE DOCTORS SAID I WAS MAKING UP.
I'm talking actual gastroenterologists here. Not just GPs. People who SPECIALIZE in this stuff. As recently as a year ago, they were being dismissive and patronizing, when I could potentially have been given a prescription for some strong antibiotics and had this thing cleared up by now.
Beyond pissed right now.

Re: It is not society's job to raise your kids, people
My last gastroenterologist suggested the same thing, at which point my girlfriend got mad at him while I was trying to stop fuming long enough to respond rationally, and he stopped taking me seriously at all until I sat him down at our last visit and said "No, you LISTEN TO ME now. THIS is what is going on and why what you have said so far is a crock." And he actually did listen, admitted that he hadn't been taking me seriously since I kept having other people come in with me and he was glad to hear me speak for myself.
So he's a dick, and so am I, and we sort of came to an understanding of that and sort of bonded a little. Then I lost my health insurance before we could make any further progress. :P
