(Anonymous) 2013-10-26 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)This is like watching a porn movie and complaining because there are sex scenes Kill la Kill is directed by Imaishi, produced by Trigger that are former Gainax employees. Of course that there will be fanservice, female nudity and sexualization. I'm glad that this time there's something for me too. I'm loving all the scenes with the shirtless teacher and I'm sure I'll enjoy the naked guy of next episode.

And I even like fanservice in a lot of places. I like boobs as much as the next lesbian, fgs.
But the overt sexualization of a character who does not want to be sexualized is really gross to be. If it were like Bayonetta or Panty & Stocking, where it's within the characters' personality to pose sexily and show some skin, it would be fine. But depicting scenes where a girl who doesn't want to be exposed is forced to dress in a really skimpy outfit and have everyone leer at her, and then to say that she should accept this if she wants to be powerful? That's upsetting to me, and makes me stop enjoying the show.
I disagree that it's the nature of the genre. I've seen other stuff that Trigger and Gainax have done. They could be better.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-27 01:18 am (UTC)(link)That is indeed the problem, but it is not MY problem. Yes, media that makes light of rape is not for me. It should not be for anyone. Trying to suggest that I just leave it be and ignore it because "It's made for guys, ofcourse you don't like it" is ignorant bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-27 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)You must be lacking in compassion if you honestly don't understand that such unnecessarily thoughtless and cruel words may be the final straw for people who struggle with depression and/or suicidal ideation. (http://www.suicideprevention.com.au/pages/?id=109&tid=4 "The final straw!:
For most people who harm themselves or die from suicide, there is usually some final event which “tips them over the edge”.") Or do you do an extensive background search on everyone you anonymously encounter online? That's why I only hope there are legos and bare feet in your future. (Not just as a figure of speech.)
