(Anonymous) 2013-10-27 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)Aside from the social awkwardness the behaviors that the OP described are actually things that should invite judgement, and acting like it's meeeeean to think that is some grade-A GSF bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-28 03:49 am (UTC)(link)Oh wait, no it doesn't.
If someone has "social problems" to the extent that they cannot perform basic personal hygiene or control their behavior to keep themselves from physically assaulting people, then they should not attend a con. Really. It's nobody's "right" to go to a con, it's a fun privilege. Some people do not deserve that privilege and no amount of "... but what about the pwecious widdle feelwings of the socially awkward????" changes that. Being socially awkward is regrettable, but luckily, it's something most people can and should work on. It is NOT asking too much of anyone (socially awkward or not!) to respect other peoples' personal space.
Also, Asperger's doesn't make you smell bad. Asperger's doesn't make you hit people. You might mean well by trying to excuse people because of their mental health (or maybe you're trolling, I don't know) but please stop. You're not doing Aspies any favors by implying that this condition makes you an antisocial cave troll that everyone else has to treat like a special snowflake.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-27 03:59 am (UTC)(link)Expecting people to behave decently isn't judgmental. If people behave the way OP described, then everyone else has every right to judge the living shit out of them.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-28 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)Seriously. Your thinking, while admirable in many applications, is misguided in this situation. It's perfectly okay to think badly of people who have every opportunity to clean themselves but refuse to. It's perfectly okay to think badly of people who believe they have the right to physically attack fellow con attendees. We SHOULDN'T tolerate people who do these things. The fact that it keeps happening is partly because people like you enable it.
