I haven't seen this in a while, but I'm going to side with the people who don't like it. I dislike a lot of comedies and parodies because they are not funny to me. I get them, but they just don't work for various reasons.

Horror comedies and parodies, imo, often fail to integrate humor and horror into something both watchable and fun. There's a line between acceptable stupidity and intolerable stupidity in comedy that is both universal and adjusted to one's personal sense of humor.

So, people can "get it" and still not like it.

I'm guilty of accusing people of not getting movies I like too, though.

This!

I find the humor in most horror parodies too mean-spirited, and Mars Attacks is one of those. I just can't laugh at it.

tbh, I can't watch regular horror movies either. No matter how stupid or vile the characters getting killed off are, I still feel sorry for them. It's just no fun for me.
