Re: Characters you like, but....

I mostly like characters that I'd be friends with IRL. Actually, I mostly like characters that are similar to myself. There are a few that I wouldn't be friends with IRL because I couldn't condone their behaviour (hell-ooo, serial killers), but I'd probably still appreciate their personalities.

I really don't get the whole "love to hate" a character deal. I generally just hate characters like that. I could never watch Seinfeld, for example. I also don't get liking characters where people are all "They're just like me/you/everybody, except they make stupid mistakes or get in over their heads and don't know how to get out" or whatever. No. Characters (and real people) act like that because they are different from people who don't let that shit happen to them. Hence my loathing of the show Girls. And the Bridget Jones movies.
