Probably because most NPCs have similar voices and regurgitate the same dialogue; he is one of the only unique-sounding NPCs with completely unique dialogue unused by any other NPC. And while he is obviously insane and disturbed it's easy to pity him a little because of how loyal and devoted (and pathetic) he is.

But different strokes for different folks.

That's actually a pretty good point. I wouldn't necessarily have thought of that. (Though I have to say, I have something of a soft spot for Farkas for some reason. That guy is just... Oh, Farkas.)

Personally I find him somewhat bland, within the character type. Oh, look, yet another gibbering cultist madman. Who cackles madly. Look how insane he is. Ooh there he goes, going on about the Night Mother again. Meh.

Yeah, I skewered him at the first opportunity as well and regretted nothing.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
I never met him because I destroyed the Brotherhood, but I'm glad I didn't. Watching my housemate meet him was creepy shit, I would have killed him stat

Every Skyrim secret reminds me that I need to finish Skyrim. Oops.

I never ran into him, but now I look forward to it!

I mean, he LOOKS disturbing, but maybe that's just my fear of clowns and jesters.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Naw, he is pretty disturbing [and judging from what seems to be implied, pretty disturbed as well].

I still need to finish the main plot too. I keep on getting distracted by other shiny games. One day I'll sit down and play until I fall asleep holding the control, haha.

I met him in the game already and he is creepy. His persona fits his image.

I hated him too. The first time playing through I killed him as soon as I could, then the second time I wanted to finish the Brotherhood through and hated that it took so long until I could get rid of the little jerk.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't *like* him, but I tend not to kill him either since I really just pity him.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
yeeaaaah, that's pretty much why I don't kill him, either. That, and I don't like Astrid.

This is me with every Bethesda game. It took me at least a year to finish Fallout 3, and I still feel proud of myself that I accomplished it. Cause I still haven't beaten New Vegas or finished any of the DLC...

Cicero's not a bad follower, if you can tune out the cackling, and I liked his backstory. The jester outfit was OTT and unnecessary, though. Subtlety, Bethesda: you used to have it.

The timing of this secret.... Last night I just started up a new character but am playing as though I'm not the Dragonborn thanks to the Skyrim Unbound mod. It's interesting but I can't focus on any one thing so even after play about 6 hours (or more) I'm barely level 2. And why are some if the nicest looking armor mods I have always guarded by high level mobs?

But I don't mind Cicero. He does get to be annoying, but if I'm going to be the Listener (like I will with the non-Dragonborn char) then I don't want to be the one oiling the Night Mother. So for that alone, the jester lives.

I like Cicero because he actually has a backstory that justifies his insanity, and he is genuinely creepy (I think). I remember the first time I encountered him while wandering around, I sat for several minutes with my mouth hanging open, trying to figure out WTF was going on with him.

A few months later, I went for the Brotherhood and was strangely delighted by his role in that plotline.

idk cicero fucked me up cuz hes creepy as heck but

his loyalty to the night mother is admirable imo and i like to keep him around (ie. not kill him) cuz the db feels really empty without him and after all the Shit Happens

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen this a hundred times. So kill him. You like what you like and let others like what they like.

I get why a lot of people hate him, but personally, I like him because he's got that tragic back-story and shit and yet he's always saying such hilariously creepy things and having fun all the time.
