I'm sorry to break this to you, but if they haven't noticed already, they probably just don't like your art/fic, or they are trying to focus on lesser known stuff.

Ignore them if you must so you're not constantly thinking about it, but for the love of God don't post complaining about this on your tumblr. I known someone who did this and that was the best way to make sure I'd never want to see their work ever again.

OP

but for the love of God don't post complaining about this on your tumblr.

Why do you think I put it here? Though coincidentally enough after I put the secret in the queue they did reblog something of mine so itch scratched. Moving on.

I had this English professor in college who made a point, when handing back essays, of telling the class whose ideas and writing he liked the most (so obviously A papers). I, being an over-achieber beyond sanity would sit there freaking out and assuming I didn't even pass.

But I got an A every time. And no matter how hard I tried, I never got a mention. Finally in my last semester with him I just said out loud, "so I'm really good at writing about nothing particularly interesting, huh?"(That was not sarcasm.)

He didn't have an answer to that and sort of talked around it, but now I did. Anyway, it does suck to be very good but never exceptional.

ahahaha, this sounds a lot like my life actually -.-

I know achieber is a typo, but it makes me think of the word beleiber, and now I'm headcanoning your professor as Justin Bieber.

That does kinda suck.

Hmm...I wonder what it is. I didn't think many tv shows/etc have official tumblrs. (Or maybe I'm behind the times and just don't realize it.)

Hannibal, maybe? (Does Hannibal even have an official tumblr?) Teen Wolf? (Actually, I follow Teen Wolf and never see them reblog fanart so I don't it's that.)

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Most Tv Shows have official tumblr pages.
I freaked out when the Almost Human Tumblr Official Page was following me.

Huh, I honestly didn't know that! And now I'm gonna follow the Almost Human one, thanks. :)

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Hannibal has a freaking amazing official Tumblr. The tags are a thing of beauty.

Man, I hate how much tumblr has been a right dick lately; the pictures won't load on my computer or phone. :( But I'm going to follow them anyway because it should eventually sort itself out and these posts look hilarious. (If the text is anything to go by.)

sounds like a case of either the mods SOMEHOW don't follow you/anyone who reblogs you, or the mods don't personally like your stuff no matter who else does. Possibly if they even reblog sucky little things with low exposure, they feel like you get enough promotion elsewhere that it's not so bad if they don't make themselves reblog your things, or maybe they were never trying to be unbiased from the start.

That's still, what, one to three-five people who don't personally enjoy your writing/themes out of how many who presumably do, those who do just don't happen to be running a fandom blog. and your writing will never be liked by everyone, it's just not possible. you just happen to have a hint of who the people for who you don't ping are, instead of invisible people just not reblogging you on their personal blog.

Quantity ain't quality!

I have to admit, the sheer wank in this fandom - and the seeming urge of those within it to faithfully disperse tales of it to the length of breadth of the internet - makes me want to write M/F fic for both Carlos and Cecil.

I don't even follow this series.

And yet... you're tempting me.

(It probably doesn't help that I love rare and crack pairs.)

Sorry, misfire!

Hmmm, if they take submissions make someone else submit you or anonymously do it yourself. If they post your stuff, problem solved. If they don't post your stuff you know they're not into you. You can move on.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's 'cause you're already so prolific? I tend to signal boost things on my fandom blog, but only those that seem to be unnoticed or ignored. If you appear to have a steady fanbase or are known in the fandom I won't bother reblogging/boosting the alreadyknown

It's be like having a blog where I signal boost young adult fantasy, I'm unlikely to mention Harry Potter. Everyone knows about that

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Prolific doesn't necessarily equate with well-known, though.

A couple of things I've noticed about the internet, OP.

1. Popularity doesn't equate to excellence. You can post some truly extraordinary piece and the Tumblr droves will like a mediocre piece much more because of a popular subject, or something cute or clever. Animated gifs are popular. Tumblrites will like and repost a mediocre gif over a good screenie.

2. The internet changes and it changes fast. Odds are whoever on the official site who's decided to ignore you for whatever reason is going to move on, rl, a new shiny, etc, and someone new, or a new format will replace them. Let time be on your side, come back later, or catch on to the new thing that's going to make Tumblr a decrepit wasteland, which is going to happen in years to come as it does to every other site.

Don't let this crap get to you.

Keep practicing, produce the very best art you can, produce the most interesting and original art you can, and they'll notice you sooner or later :)

Do you curse? Maybe they won't reblog your stuff because it's not 'age appropriate' or whatever.

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah the fandom is for adults.

I actually thought about it for a while and I think they: avoid shipping, prefer colored pieces, don't want story spoilers, and shy away from "head canons."

So I ended up doing a piece that fit that description and got reblogged after submitting this secret. So mystery solved I guess. I feel cheap for doing it but at least I can get over it.

i see this all the time in rp tumblrs and good god is it annoying and passive-aggressive to constantly post ooc notes about it. Surefire way to lose followers.
