I have to admit, the sheer wank in this fandom - and the seeming urge of those within it to faithfully disperse tales of it to the length of breadth of the internet - makes me want to write M/F fic for both Carlos and Cecil.

I don't even follow this series.

And yet... you're tempting me.

(It probably doesn't help that I love rare and crack pairs.)

Isn't most of the wank about race and stuff though?

I don't see how M/F fic would be a response to that, unless you're saying you agree with the fucknocecilos people.

It's interesting that your thoughts immediately went to what I presume would be labelled a gay love hate group. (Since I previous admitted to not even following the canon material, it's really unlikely that I care enough to find a faction, much less support one. Your assumption says interesting things about the mindset of the fandom, however.)

I've had to listen to wank regarding personal tattooos and tentacles. At this point, I imagine that anything would lead to wank since nothing is guaranteed to match everyone's head canon.

But, that said, the desire to hear about any pairing other than the "approved" ships (Carlos & Cecil or Cecil & that guy he hates) at this point - and to tailor that fic to be well written yet aggravate as many people as possible - is ridiculously strong.

Man, you're passive-aggressive. I know it doesn't make much sense to say it here, but it's just fandom, calm down.

I assumed you were responding to OP, who was talking about the gay-related wank in the series, and I don't really see how writing an M/F fic would be a response to anything but that.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-21 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
... I don't think that "passive aggressive" means what you think it means.

...I'm not the one who's upset. Mor am I the one running around and accusing complete strangers of homophobia for not falling in with my preferred ship.

Honestly, it's interesting to me that, after railing about the intolerance of everyone who doesn't agree with them personally, nearly every member of the Night Vale fandom I've had contact with is remarkably intolerant of differing opinions or tastes.

Point in case.

OP

Cecil and Carlos doesn't work as a relationship because you think they don't have the chemistry between their personalities makes for a fair opinion.

Having a preference to ship Cecil and Dana makes for a fair decision to dabble in fandom.

Not being totally interested in shipping because it's not for you makes for a fair opinion.

But saying stuff that having a gay (or any non-heterosexual) character/relationship in a storyline because it's promoting "gay propaganda" (and they seriously say that), and say that "gays are (not) in real “love” and everything is a consequence of masturbatory lust which they confuse with the intimacy of a man/woman pairing."... is still an opinion, but it's a pretty damn hurtful and shitty one.

So, normally I tend to keep to my safe spaces around here, but if someone decides to invade that with that evidently homophobic string of nonsense, I reserve the right to at least have the satisfaction of calling out on their bullshit and gleefully reminding myself that one, the canon of the series is inclusive towards queer representation, and two, for once, just bloody once, I get to gloat while some poor person cries about "non heterosexual characters/relationships".

But okay, feel free to write M/F Night Vale fanfiction if you want. Just don't do it out of spite.
