I JUST WANT TO DISCUSS THIS IMAGE FOR A LITTLE BIT.

-The haggis-creatures' feet look like hands.
-That recipie reads pretty gnarly when you're not used to cooking with windpipes.
-The tube-noses are kind of disturbing for some reason.
-Check out the "how high is this dude" expression on the foreground haggis-creature.
-The background haggis-creature appears to be fucking gigantic.
-And why is it bouncing? Is that what they do all day? Bounce?
-Why even portray haggis as some kind of weird beast? Who the fuck drew this?

Any thoughts? Are you as weirdly fascinated with this as I am? :P

That haggis looks stoned as hell; I'm pretty sure the artist was too.

...That is a good explanation.

how to improve it

Remove the creatures, remove the godawful ugly pink letters. You can leave the hat, though. There, it's better.

But yeah, it's pretty cringeworthy.

THE PINK LETTERS BOTHER ME TOO.

It's just... It's not even conventionally gross to me. It's just bizarre and unsettling.

Bad design always bothers me more than the actual contents :/ Although I do shudder to think what it would be like if all the weird visual stuff out there were technically well-done... Salad Fingers is a perfect example, tbh. After seeing the first episode, I refuse to touch it with a barge pole (save for reading the tvtropes page).

I actually kind of like Salad Fingers, but I think it's overhyped and not the best thing Firth ever did. I'm partial to the "Sock" series myself.

This is making my mouth water, like how it does right before I vomit. D:

I am too scared to click this link

Haggis-creature? Cooking with windpipes?

It's just a weird cartoon drawing with a haggis recipe on it! Not too scarring, just peculiar.

I think it's kind of cute. Has a '70's artwork vibe to it.

FYI, I actually do think it's weirdly likable, somehow. :D

3/10 would not eat

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2013-11-25 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I just have to say that this is a pretty terrible recipe for haggis. Usually you put a lot of other spices in there, not just salt and pepper.
starphotographs: This field is just more space for me to ramble and will never be used correctly. I am okay with this! (Ginko (default))

Re: 3/10 would not eat

[personal profile] starphotographs 2013-11-25 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
That struck me as odd, too! But I've never made haggis, so I didn't know if that was normal or not.

Re: 3/10 would not eat

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2013-11-25 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. It would make some bland, excessively crummy haggis. It must be one of those recipe cards of ethnic cuisines adapted for American housewives circa 1950-70. Those tended to enjoy sucking all the flavour out of any recipe printed on them for the sake of being "easy to make".

See, that's what I thought!

Haggis is kind of an odd choice for something "easy," though. All that futzing with gristle and windpipes...

I'd just like to sail in here and claim "Cooking With Windpipes" as a band name.

it better have bagpipes

[personal profile] riddian 2013-11-25 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, I was thinking an all-bagpipe band. Maybe some other wind instruments too, but mostly bagpipes.
