Games ARE that expensive in Australia. Well done on completely disregarding the antipodes.

Joke's on you, games are expensive in my country as well. Seriously only a dumbass will walk into a store, pick a game and pay 60 bucks for it. Unless, of course, you're a huge fan of a franchise and can't wait a few weeks to find the damn thing used on Ebay.

But consoles are clearly deap cheap where you're from and it's not the same everywhere. Unless you got it through illegal means as well.

Obviously consoles will take a chunk off your wallet but you're not going to to buy a new one every year, are you?

Now I'm 100% sure you're a troll. Or a wealthy spoiled brat.

Maybe I have a job that pays me money that I may occasionally use on my hobbies. Unbelievable I know.

Despite this 'mature' attitude you have going on, it seems you're unable to grasp the concept of budgeting and prioritising one's own expenses.

In addition, wow OP cry moar. 'XYZ people don't fit my definition of fan, so I'll get them to spend /their/ money for /my/ peace of mind. Woe is me.'

It's wonnderful that you're lucky enough to earn a lot. You should consider the possibility that not everyone is as lucky as you.

who says they earn a lot? it took me a couple of years to put away enough for a ps3 because all i could spare was a dollar here and a couple of dollars there.

it's called saving up for something you want.

There are a lot of things I want. There are a lot of things my family members want too, and ps3 is very far on that list.

It's called having priorities.

Only a lot of newer games, especially console ones, can't really be bought used anymore.

Re: OP here

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well that's just bullshit. I find 360, Xbox, PS1-3, Wii and even a decent selection of NES/SNES/N64 games at a used store. And even Xbox One walked back the decision to not allow shared or used games without an extra fee.

So, yeah. I guess if you're looking for Atari, Commodore or Coleco you might be screwed, but otherwise, not so much.

Guess I'm a dumbass then.

Re: OP here

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh shut up, I'm from NZ. I pay about as much for a game as I do for your average DVD. Steam + internet + second hand sales. Just don't buy them brand new at EB and you're sorted.

Re: OP here

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. $60 is *cheap* for a new game in Australia. If stores hadn't embraced the second hand industry then a lot of us would barely get to play at all.

Re: OP here

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
That's about what they cost new where I am, so I don't buy them the day they come out. Problem solved. You either buy them used or wait until the price goes down. Or both.
