I think it's awesome that fandom is a place to flesh out the minor characters, but I don't like how often this turns into a lot of authors copy-catting each other's characterizations. Cause to an extent it's fun to create a sort of sub-fandom off of one fanon, but it also easily makes somebody feel like the odd one out for seeing it differently.

OMG THIS. I don't mind a bunch of different headcanons but it's like fandom reaches a consensus without any proof, and I'm left scratching my head like this isn't at all how I saw the character but now I can't escape it.

This is exactly how I feel about a lot of my current fandoms, to be honest. It's like people latch on to one or two headcanons, and I'm trying to figure out where that came from, and why That particular bit of fanon rather than something I like better.
