I like it and I don't. I mean it's nice that at least in games people are fairly tolerant of different MCs. (Except those that freak out if your Mass Effect character isn't a woman)

Other the other hand, yeah people do get way out there and weird with their ideas for their characters.

I also really really hate shipping the MC in games with PCs. It feels so freaking wrong yet so many games now are starting to include it. I know *I* don't have to do it but most of the art/fic ends up being "my special snowflake character fucks the character I want to fuck." Usually with canon rending OOC craziness. The game I'm thinking of specifically has little to no fic of canon pairings and one character is obviously the fandom's choice for fuckbuddy. Don't even think about trying to find fic that is actually about the plot of the game.
