Re: Spoilers for Hannibal

The original anon who argued the point with you, not the anon you were replying to.

And I don't expect you to engage me on this. In fact, considering I'm anon and can't track it, I don't know that I'd even see if you did respond. But I felt the need to do so.

since it seems like you can see from Hannibal's point of view or you can't
What? I can totally see it from Hannibal's point of view. But Hannibal is an unreliable narrator who also happens to be a fucking insane cannibalistic serial killer. Sure, he thinks he cares for Will and possibly believes that he truly is helping Will to be a better person. However, we, as (supposedly) impartial third party observers, who are privy to all of the information and not, in fact, insane and skewed in our perceptions, should be able to see that Hannibal doesn't experience true affection or demonstrate kindness of any kind.

Would you really want someone in your life who did the things to you that Hannibal did to Abigail, Will, and countless other victims? Would you really consider these actions kind?

If you sincerely want to talk about this and find these threads hard to follow, PM me here or on LJ (same name) and I'll be happy to explain my issues with your interpretation and go on and on about Hannibal's actual point of view, not this bloodless, endlessly caveat-laden thing you're presenting as the only acceptable way to understand his point of view. I enjoy detailed discussion and would also be open to making a new post for it, but I'm not going to sit here and talk meta to myself on the off chance that someone might read it. Get a fake account if you want, I don't care. A show has to bore me terribly before I'll start watching as an impartial observer, so our approaches may just be basically incompatible. If you just want to have the last word or something and ask silly questions about whether I want a serial killer bff in real life, I'm not interested.
