(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)1. I don't know you or OP know what the word elitist means. Reading what you wrote, I'd wager the word you were looking for is "entitled". Elitist is what you're being.
2. Nobody said anything about "pretending to be an expert". It was about "calling yourself a fan if you haven't played the game yourself". That's not the same as calling yourself an expert. I also doubt that a lot of people who actually do play games could honestly called themselves "~experts~". And since you mention modding: Would you say that someone who has never used mods in a game (whether they didn't need/want to or are console gamers where modding isn't possible) is not a tru gamer either? You know, since they're lacking an important part of the general gaming experience?
