There's a lot of usernames that will make me roll my eyes, like "pimpmasta69" or "wolfheart gundamn XIII" -- but a name based on your actual name isn't one of them.

There are probably a lot of other services and fandom exchanges that you could be a part of that have nothing to do with natural disasters or anything negative like that.

Heck, there are still penpal programs out there you could sign up for.

It seems pretty normal to me. Kind of like the early 00s and before when everyone was "(name)86" or something.

okay i typoed gundam there but fuck if i'm fixing that

Maybe you should sign up for swap-bot.com, postcrossing or get some penpals (I'd do it!)! Its for mail and packages and making friends.

However, receiving something you desire in return for donating to a charitable organization doesn't make you a parasite at all. I am too scared to offer postcards or things like that because i think people wouldn't want them

When I'm modding a secret exchange, I always make sure to go back and add in the names of the artists and authors. It's just good sense, as far as I'm concerned.

Hot means different things to different people, OP. I have a friend who loves nothing more than weight gain fic, so any sort of comment about belly flab really does it for them. I have another friend who specializes in older couple porn, so signs of aging and wrinkles do it for her. And then there's me, who usually identifies with the less attractive person in the couple and likes when the emphasis on ugliness comes up, because it makes the porn better for me.

So. You might as well be complaining into a void, because the people who write those sorts of details are going to ignore you.

Could be a kink or an attractive feature to the author. You might not like a belly or a balding person but that doesn't mean everyone finds it a turn off.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh why. Its not like you have to partake in either side if you don't want to.

I love the picture chosen for the content of this secret.

That snowman is one of the reasons I'm not seeing the movie.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Don't read my porn, then. Simples, because I'm not going to stop writing that a character loves the imperfect body of the other party. Just because YOU don't find imperfect bodies hot, doesn't mean no-one else does, and my readers like it just fine, thank you.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Same. I don't think I'd have much interest in fanfic if it weren't for that. I feel a bit guilty.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all. Makes me kind of sad for OP, but I don't find it creepy. What about it creeps you out?

Yep, ACD!Holmes isn't half a bad guy. That's why I usually view adaptations as just being separate series or simply adapting the style and spirit of the stories rather than adapting the actual stories themselves. I've heard Elementary!Holmes is closer to ACD!Holmes but I haven't watched it yet myself.

oh for fuck's sake. some of us like our porn driven by unique characterizations and bodies; some of us aren't into cookie-cutter pornopretty. you will also notice that many many many fat, bald, and/or both people have sex in the real world. sometimes hot, kinky, wild, passionate sex. amazingly enough, the elasticity of human erotogeneity means that there's going to be someone out there who finds any given thing you can imagine hot, whether you do or not.

in short: no1curr, not all porn meant to cater to your particular tastes. which seem so common that I can scarcely believe you have a hard time finding fap material.

Try to write "perfect" porn-sex: People complain it isn't realistic.

Try to write realistic sex: People complain it isn't hot enough.

If this is the book I think it is, yeah, I can't imagine many 'new fans' liking it much at all. Has it been re-released? If it's the one I'm thinking of, I read it in hardcover back in the 90's, and the sequel novel, too, and very much enjoyed them.

Then again, my favorite Holmes is still the one portrayed by Frank Langella on stage.

NS is a huge spoiler for Thor 2, I think.

How is using your name for your tumblr self centered? It's your name. It's your blog. It's okay.

[personal profile] jaybie_jarrett 2013-11-26 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I like quirky or superfantasy names and last names like Bluestorm and Greenblade and Starchaser. I try to vary how much I use them so as not to annoy the audience. I sometimes wonder what it says about me. Then i just realized that it means my inner 12 year old is still very much alive in my mind. and that's cool with me.

Try not to worry about things like that and just embrace them.
