For some weird reason, the sex ruined KareKano for me. I don't know either. It's not even really shown.

Also, lack of consequences when characters do stupid/destructive things annoy me to no end. Also, I read somebody (in my flist, maybe) talking about Seinfeld and how surprised she was that upon rewatching, she realized how much of a douchehat the main characters there were. I raised my eyebrows, admit I was also probably too young to notice, and when I tried rewatching I then noticed every. single. moment of douchebaggery. And there were lots.

That ruined Seinfeld for me, and it kinda made me sad. I used to really like that show.

But...the characters are like, supposed to be douchebags. That's pretty much the central premise of the show -- shallow selfish characters being repeatedly kicked in the groin by life due to a combination of bad luck and selfish shallow choices. Like a Greek Tragedy without the sympathy for the characters.

I get that, I do, it's just that when I was a kid a lot of their douchebaggeries just completely escaped me. I just see them as self-centered, but then so am I, so it wasn't really an issue. Rewatching it, I also think there were a lot of their actions that didn't receive the necessary consequences.

I hate that too; I would have put that in my own list but you beat me to it. It seems that writers believe that if a hero does a stupid/terrible/nasty thing then they can't be heroic or good people. When in fact I would respect a person MORE if they did a terrible thing, realised it, and tried to do something about it or at least accepted the consequences with dignity.

It gets even worse when said character dicks over other characters, only those characters forgive them or are portrayed as eeeeevil for NOT forgiving them. I usually write the series off at that point.
