I adore Zachary Levi and I liked him in this movie, but I did think his accent was pretty shakey, so if that's something that bothers you it could easily ruin the experience.

I don't know the actor, so is it something about his acting or his previous roles that makes you dislike him as Fandral? Or maybe you're a comic fan and his portrayal was further from that? (I haven't read the comics btw so I can't really comment)

Because I saw Thor: The Dark World and only barely noticed the character's actor had changed he was in it so little, but what I saw was decent. Better even in that he seemed a little less like a campy narcissist with a sword and more like a warrior who is also a narcissist.

(I'm still disappointed this movie wasn't Thor, the Warriors 3 and Sif fighting and saving the day together - I'd have liked to see the implied relationship and dynamics on screen more.)

The other actor was definitely better. He had Fandral down, and this guy just... lacked the magic.



Fun context: The Asgards were not on good terms with the Dark Elfs at this point in time. THAT'S THEIR QUEEN. THEY WERE JUST CAUGHT AND WHAT DOES HE DO? START POSING.

All I know about Levi is that he was the voice of Flynn Ryder in Tangled.

I just like the first one better

No particular reason for it, though, beyond aesthetics. But I quite like this one, too. I'm more attached to the character than the actor (which is not always the case, just in this particular instance it is).

I think I like the first one, Dallas as well. Mostly because he reminded me of Cary Ewles' turns in The Princess Bride and Robin Hood: Men in Tights but also I though he had the Errol Flynn swashbuckler down better.

I didn't dislike Levi as Fandral particularity, and he had some amusing lines, but I did prefer Dallas as Fandral tbh. He just seemed to fit the flamboyant swashbuckling swordsman better.

Eh, I prefer Josh Dallas, (but I understand why he wasn't there) but I thought Zachary Levi did a fine job.

I much preferred Dallas as Fandral, too. I love Levi, but his accent was off to me and I couldn't get into it. When he was on screen all I could see was Chuck cosplaying. (I usually don't have a problem separating actors from their roles, and I've def seen him in other things, but it happened. Maybe the cast change was the reason.)

He's such a minor character that he should have been left out, at least until a sequel where his actor could return. All I know is that he was super hot in the first movie (but I still can't remember his name because he's just a background hottie, IMO.)

And Zachary Levi himself?

Er... no. He does nothing for me on any level. He looked strange in that costume with all of that make-up. And took up time that could have been used on more fan-service of shirtless Chris Hemsworth.

Co-signed. OUAT should have just lent Dallas to Thor 2. It's not like Charming has contributed much to this season.
