it's kind of the only content in your post, and it implies a position that most of f!s disagrees with

I was trying to keep my post free of content. I wanted to know what people thought without jumping on the "You're a terrible person, anon" bandwagon.
I wanted people to give their thoughts on the group not their thoughts on my thoughts on the group. Clearly I failed.

Yep! Go back, try again. Try not to suck as much next time.

Yep.

I'm a little baffled that you thought the "real gamer ladies" comment wouldn't get attention or wank. Are you new?

*girls.

Sorry, the quote is wrong. You didn't use "ladies".

Agree with anon above me.

There's nothing wrong with asking "are there ladies here who game who have an opinion on these ladies?" or something to that effect. But you managed, with one phrase, to both use "gamer girls" (a phrase that insinuates that women who game are an anomaly and a special category of gamers) and "real gamers" (dredging up the old debate about who is "allowed" to call themself a gamer and basically being really elitist about it).

If you really didn't know, then I'd encourage you to think about these things, anon. I was blunt with my comment below, though I'm not trying to be an asshole. But I also don't like being characterized as an exotic special unique exhibit of gaming, and I also don't like the elitism and cred wars that are so commonplace in parts of the larger gaming community.

People have been critical of Team Unicorn ITT without getting jumped on; it's framing it in terms of legitimacy that gets people up in arms.

But, yes, prickly is a good descriptor. But hey, that's the Internet life, I guess.

I'm not quite sure I understand where you're coming from? Because it seems to me that being super defensive about stuff like Team Unicorn comes from a place of saying that our common enemy is "I fuked ur mom tits or gtf0" culture and that it's dumb to argue over who's more legitimate of a gamer. Those come from the same place (but it kind of seemed like you were saying that F!S is being overdefensive and that's bad). Sorry if I'm misreading you here.

I do agree with what you're saying here. tbh I'm kind of skeptical about the whole existence of a "gamer culture" and whether that's even a meaningful identity. But to the extent that it is one, yeah, I definitely agree w you.
