Re: Deal breakers

(Anonymous) 2013-12-05 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
+1 kind of

I could deal with them being unable to cook when I met them, but I couldn't deal with them being unwilling to learn or if they just expected that I would do all of the cooking

aside from the obvious (sexist, abusive, etc) I would say if they don't shower every day/bathe regularly. also if they're passive aggressive or really emotional it's just a big no for me. I have the type of personality where I have trouble empathizing with someone who's really hurt or upset because of me and comes at me in a vulnerable way--either I feel overwhelmed and shut down or I just get irritable--so that would be a horrible match. because fights are bound to happen in any serious relationship.

Ugh, my mom's second husband was super passive aggressive. Having experienced it second hand, I agree that it's definitely at the top of my list.

MRAs are a no-go. If a dude thinks both feminism and MRA...ism are stupid and just wants to live his life without killing anybody, okay, I can work with that, but I'd sooner join a convent than date an MRA.

No beta males. Just because you're not a bullying abusive alpha does not mean you're acceptable. Beta's a weak and boring, Alphas are abusive, so how about you try to find a middle ground?

Apart from the obvious (psychopath, rapist, cheater, etc) ...

Sexist/MRA.
Racist, homophobic, etc.
Has to put women down in order to compliment me - eg. "you're not like those other girls!"
Tries pick-up lines or insults.
Rude to staff members, cleaners, anyone lower down the social ladder.
Rude to his mother, sisters, or grandmother.
Dependent on mother for everything, even when he's old enough to cook his own meals & make his own bed.
Treats me like a manic-pixie-dream-girl who's going to "save" him.
Poor personal hygiene.
Heavy smoking/drinking/drug-use.
Brony.

Clamming up when angry--I can't abide people who dispense the silent treatment.

Refusal to try new things

Rudeness--whether to cashiers and restaurant servers, or to his nearest and dearest "because they know to take me as I am."

Sedentariness. I have zero use for a guy whose leisure activities are all carried on indoors while sitting in front of the TV or computer.

Being a slob, or helpless in the kitchen. It's not cute.
