Olaf isn't Ray, trust me. Olaf is kind of the voice of reason for Anna. He has this self-aware kind of dialogue as well. "Oh, I've been impaled!" "Anna, run, I want you to run because I love you." and then goes on to try and distract Kristoff, who he thinks is insane. (context)

His liking summer also has a reason. When Elsa created him, she gave him the catchphrase "Hi, I'm Olaf! And I like warm hugs!" to make Anna happy. That's why he wants to be in warmer weather.

I figure he's pretty much the part of Elsa's childhood she lost and missed given physical form. Hence the reason he's identical to the snowman made on the last day she was really happy.

Him and Louis, who's completely pointless.

But Olaf isn't like them, actually. The role he plays if pretty well balanced, as opposed to Ray's focus-hogging.

The funny thing about Ray is that I really loved the role he played in the story (made me cry, seriously), but I hate hate HATED his actual redneck stereotype character. That was awful.

I considered him both, because as far as I know being toothless and quaintly countrified isn't as big a stereotype with Cajuns as Southerners? I could be completely wrong, though, never lived down South.

Also Jim Cummings, Disney's go to voice actor guy, lived in New Orleans for several years and based the accent on Cajun guys he worked with. Is apparently accurate?

He sounds a lot like my Cajun inlaws, so I'd say the accent's pretty good.

I liked Ray. Louis on the other hand, while not that irritating, was... pointless I felt.

I think Louis sort of symbolized the complete pie in the sky hopelessness of feeling that you were human, wanting to have a human destiny, yet being an animal.

Wouldn't say it ruined it for me (the animation was gorgeous, the story was meh), but good GOD, he annoyed me.

I didn't like any of the sidekicks in that movie except Charlotte. Didn't like Mama Odie, didn't like Ray, didn't like Louis, didn't like Wormtail.
