Holy shit, she does look exactly like Rapunzel.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't think it was so noticeable when you saw them in action tbh, and I was looking for it.

cameo spoilers

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, considering that Rapunzel and Eugene do actually show up in the movie, maybe Rapunzel and Elsa and Anna are related?

Re: cameo spoilers

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
HAHAHAHA. No they don't show up in the movie. They were just lazy and refused the character models.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
actually they do. it was confirmed by Tangled's director after he asked. they're briefly in the clip where the gates open during For the First Time In Forever and Anna is dashing out.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I call bullshit. It's just an excuse for the fact they reused the character models.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
You can keep saying that if you want, but unless you have proof, I see no reason why anyone should take you seriously.

Disney movies have a long history of including brief cameos of characters from their other movies, so it was definitely meant to be Rapunzel. It's an easter egg for sharp-eyed viewers, like Belle's cameo in Hunchback of Notre Dame, or the magic carpet from Aladdin appearing in Princess and the Frog (0:17). Call bullshit all you like, but you'll still be wrong.

You do realize that Disney likes little cameos like that right?

They do it all the time. And it's not something they took from Pixar. This shit goes way back.

More cameos!

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2013-12-10 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Look closer. So's the duck and the mouse.

More cameos!

I won't count Alladin that's a bit too easy.

Great mouse detective

Hunchback of Notre Dame:
This ones a bit hard, but Pumba is on a stick in the Bottom Center. To the Right is Alladin's magic carpet in a mans hands, and below that a certain bookworm who's apparently gotten to travel a bit out of her smaller french town to gay Paris.

further proof that "kingdom hearts" happened.

There's also a cameo of Scar in "Hercules" and a figurine of The Beast in "Aladdin".

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Scar shows up in Hercules too. Dead Scar.

HEADCANON SOMEWHAT SPOILER ALERT?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
This...really helps me theory that the trip the Queen and King took (to unfortunate consequences) was due to visiting Rapunzel's parents, and they're relatives in some way.

/the ramblings of a medicated fan.

No, they do actually show up. It's a quick clip, but seriously, they show up.

Ooo, nice. Now I kind of want to see it.

Re: cameo spoilers

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
It's a really short cameo, blink and you'll miss it really, but yeah, they're there. :D

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Actually comparing the two, they have many differences. All those comparisons the SJWs were whining about were the first drafts or whatever. And not the new ones.

It's Glen Keane's style. He has this weird huge eyes, tiny upturned nose at the end of a long nose bridge, pointy chin signature style for his young female characters. Like someone took a toddler's face and shifted down the nose to the chin almost to the point of being absurd. He did this for The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast Tarzan, Tangled and now this movie.

Now that I think about it, Jane from Tarzan really exemplified the design that would resurface in the female characters of Tangled and Frozen. Huh.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Except he wasn't working on this movie because he's not involved with Disney anymore.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
They're still working off his style. A ton of Disney characters have Ariel's exact eyes, and they're not all Glen Keane characters. (Also FWIW I've read that Frozen's production was a bit rushed which may give a reason for some of the similarities, it was quicker to piggyback on an existing design than to make a new one.)
