Fandom apparently has a gigantic hate-on for BBT. I think it's a pretty stupid show for a lot of reasons, but I can't quite fathom how it's able to command such depth of anger in people.

I love Raj as well. I don't watch the show a lot but he was always my favorite. I am still sad and annoyed that they wrote him as a sexist asshole when drunk. It seems so OOC and not at all funny.

That show has fallen apart completely. Stick to the earlier seasons. Such a waste of a superb cast.

Well, he was the character that annoyed me the least, from the few episodes of the show that I've seen. I never found it funny. :T

Secret 15 - The Big Bang Theory (TV series)

Not secret: I would LOVE to have a friend like him. He's adorable, a great cook, throws awesome murder mystery parties and he's my favorite character on Big Bang Theory. The secret? I'm starting to resent the rest of the cast for putting him down all the time and have to keep telling myself that it's just a show, they're not REALLY racist...

The show can be really funny, but it's taken a huge turn downhill. The jokes at Raj's and Penny's expense have gotten really old. This coming from a person that fell in love with the show and gorged on every single episode to catch up with the current season last year misses the old episodes. What happened to fresh and funny? It's still humorous in its own way, but I don't rush to catch up on missed episodes any longer.

This. I love the older episodes, and the direction this show has taken makes me sad.

IMO Season 3 or 4 onward should be regarded as some type of re-boot, re-make, or spin-off.

I gave up on this show ages ago but Raj is still the cutest thing. Actually, all the actors (esp Kaley Cuoco) are really great, I just wish they had better gigs.

KC is my least-favorite of the bunch, but I second everything else you said.

I think it's fascinating that BBT has sky-high ratings and yet the online fandom is more or less dead. This show might have millions of "viewers", but it no longer has fans, and I find that very telling. I keep coming across BBT-themed sites, tumblrs, et cetera, that haven't been updated in two or three years. The number one show in the country isn't even in the top 50 fandoms on FF.net.
It really shows how Internet fandom is a different group of people (more discerning?) than the general public.
This might sound paranoid, but the show itself seems to discourage any non-canon shipping or thinking outside the box, and that's not conducive to writing fanfic or other creative endeavors on the part of fans.
