I guess because I'm also against the banning of "Merry Christmas" and whatnot, just to make things PC. If Santa as a character is white, then why change it. If Santa was black originally, there would be hellfire if someone suggested he be made into a penguin to 'make it acceptable to all non-black children'

eta: the "if Santa were black" part. As to the "why change it" question, the answer is: Santa is a franchise character, and people can portray him however they wish to. Different interpretations are always interesting (and may be good for other kids).

I should clarify that I don't have any issues with different takes, but to phase out Santa completely and make him a penguin doesn't really make sense to me.

I put "Merry Christmas" bans in the same category as Bigfoot and Nessie.

Changes in marketing policy are not bans.

Never mind that at least half of those cases were amazing examples of the AFA getting it wrong and boycotting companies that explicitly used the word "Christmas" in their advertising.
