Yeah. I wish the author hadn't plagiarized a bunch of shit too, but she did, and I have no respect for her work because of it.

I have no respect for most of her work, but the LOTR Very Secret Diaries will always have a special place in my heart

Wait, what? I remember reading the LOTR Very Secret Diaries back in like, junior high, when the movies were coming out. That's... Cassandra Clare? Seriously?

Yep, Cassie Claire (yes she changed the spelling of her name).

I saw those recced all over the place and did not think they were that funny.

I didn't either, but as I can still remember them and people still quote them, I have to concede that they were evidently better than I initially gave them credit for.

Do those still exist online anywhere? I lost my copies ages ago.

Thanks! :)

I'm so glad this is the first comment, because: just this.

People act as though she didn't deserve to be called out on her plagiarism, because she plagiarised the good parts of things...like how does that make sense?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-16 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I got into an argument with a friend who said "So what if she plagiarised tons of stuff - if she managed to put in into a story that was her own and people enjoy it, it's still a good story~" because the art was in piecing the things together in a way they worked or something. I disagreed. The same friend throws a fit, though, if you stream/download series or read scanlations because ~it's illegal~. Well guess what? Plagiarism is illegal, too.
