Hello Ennui, didn't miss ya at all 8(

[personal profile] lynx 2013-12-20 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm bored out of my mind, in one of those rare moments in which:
- No book appeals to me. (I know, wtf?)
- I'm fed up with everyone's bullshit (Veggie FB Comm strikes again)
- I have a writer's block the size of the URSS.

I kind of want to go clubbing and have some drinks? But I don't have anyone to go with :C So I'm stuck at home, feeling apathetic (not depressed, just... yeah, existentially bored) and kinda lonely.

How does F!S cope with this kind of thing?

I talked about it on this thread: http://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/926279.html?thread=704363847#cmt704363847

It has gotten worse. I can't help but noticing ovo-lacto-vegetarians are THE SCUM OF THE EARTH for some of the vegans there because hdu dare to not be a True Gold-Star Vegan DON'T YOU KNOW MILK AND EGGS ARE blahblahblah...

And I was at first like "guys, I'm... I'm on your side, promise, please stop judging me DDDD:", but then my patience start growing thinner... and thinner. And today I was seriously SO DONE with them, but I don't know when to quit things, it seems.

Uggggh. Yeah, I've seen that kind of crap, and it makes me REALLY glad that the vegans I know in real life are okay with whatever anyone wants to eat. No preaching, they'll just happily serve you a delicious vegan variation of your favorite meal if you agree to let them cook for you. (I occasionally, VERY OCCASIONALLY, eat a small amount of fish. I'm pretty sure that would get me labeled a fraud/poser/idiot/murderer by the kinda people you're seeing...)

Most of the vegans I knew IRL were sane and totally ok too. Not the preachy kind! And I've learn a lot from them, and from having to cook for them too. I'm of the idea that you get your point across waaaaaay better by cooking something delicious and cruelty-free than standing on a soapbox and screaming with a megaphone how EVERYONE IS INFERIOR AND DESERVES TO DIE BECAUSE THEY'RE SPECIST AND THAT'S MURDER AND SLAVERY AND--- I'm sure you get me.

I have nothing against pescetarians, or vegetarians who are ocassional pescetarians. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", right? It's totally ok :o But some people are the most nasty and dogmatic they can get when it comes to veganism, and I'm getting really tired of this BS everyday on my Facebook.

Oh that's rough. I'm... sort of a vegetarian... who eats fish and seafood. So not really a vegetarian. My existence seems to make hardcore vegans more apoplectic than if I was a full blown meat eater.

That kind of people don't respect anyone. Don't let them get to you :(

I started as a pescetarian, y'know. My mom wouldn't let me go veg fully until a year after. But it's also ok if you don't go completely veg? Only you know how much you can actually do.

Same. I want this term to be over but my school assignments are annoying so I'm just f!sing and digging myself in deeper.

I don't wanna deal with seeing my relatives next week.

I would love go out drinking with you.

I don't exactly have writer's block but I know I shouldn't be writing when I have other responsibilities...

I know the feel, sis :( The cycle of procrastination is a bitch.

I don't wanna either. I'm kind of dreading Xmas, actually and... that wasn't something that used to happen.

I only have a third of a beer bottle :'( If I had something stronger I'd suggest getting smashed on chat, at least.

I'm stuck on my F!S Secret Santa present and I feel AWFUL about it, I really want to do something QUALITY, but life on this house has been unpleasant and I'm really not in the mood and... DDDDDD:

Man it's not even Christmas that's bothering me it's just ugh, if I can get personal for a second, I have an aunt who I love but who I know is going to ask me why I'm not working, what am I doing with my life, why haven't I moved to the West Coast or NYC yet, really that's a big helping of potatoes there you sure you wanna eat all that, etc. I'd rather get the "So, do you have a boyfriend?" question than that. :\ because at least that would give me an opening to come out officially

I have...hard cider, but that would just make me sleepy.

:( Awww. I'm not doing secret santa but I do have gift-fics that I promised people that I haven't done because [all the things listed above].

Maybe a shower and a cup of tea will help you? Listen to some focus music on youtube. That's what I'm gonna do.

I don't mind if you get personal, honey. And I get you, honest. It's not the... holiday itself, it's the baggage of family, right? I'm sorry about the dreadful feeling of knowing your aunt (that you love) is going to make you so damn uncomfortable. My granny is similar. They don't ever ask if I have a boyfriend (probably because all about me screams "LESBIAN!" and having confirmation would break their hearts), but my family, they're all "well, and how are your literary works doing? Any progress? Publishing soon? Wait, but what are you doing to support yourself?" and... look, don't read it if you don't want to, just. My last journal entry? That's how my relationship with my mom is doing.

Maybe I'll drink that beer and start writing the damn thing. IDK. I've discovered chillstep on 8tracks works better than "focus music", but it's the same principle.

I wish you success with your gift-fics <3 Have a nice shower too! ^^ And enjoy your tea, I bet it's terribly cold there.

Why is your aunt so keen for you to move out to the West Coast or New York?

You should come to Iowa; we have too many CAFOs and too much GM corn (also lutefisk, but you can avoid that), but also fried things on sticks, gay marriage, dark skies and so much snow in the winter that you almost always have a built-in excuse (if you want one) for not traveling to see people who ask you annoying questions.

I make myself try doing one of those things I don't feel like doing anyway. Once I get past the inertia I often end up actually enjoying myself.

I will try to do that. Thank you. Actually, I think that's what DBT is about? I wish I didn't get so anxious about basically everything ^^;; But you're right.

I def. need funny movies on my life, because all I have downloaded right now is Blue is the Warmest Color and the last Madoka Magica movie. And both are about lesbians who screw up immensely with the SADDEST ENDINGS. (Why there aren't movies with happy lesbians besides "But I'm a Cheerleader"? ;;)

My go-to funny movie is Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Never fails. Galaxy Quest was also mentioned somewhere in GC tonight, but Ferris is the king, man.

I feel this way like 90% of the time. Sometimes I deal with it by sleeping (not healthy), sometimes by browsing pointlessly online (not productive), and once in a vague while I'll just force myself through the apathy and boredom and get shit done that needs to be done. Sadly that last one happens too rarely.

This is unhelpful, sorry. :/ Hope you find some entertainment or something and this mood moves on for you.

Not unhelpful at all :3 I feel less lonely. (Though it sucks it happens to you too. I really hope things get better for you, Anon.) *offers hugs and chocolate*

Cleaning. The ennui turns into irritation at the ennui, and the irritation fuels much-needed cleaning (because I'm a slob, so there is always something to clean). And then I feel either fulfilled from cleaning or at least worn out from cleaning and able to drop off into a nap.

Or get drunk by myself at home.

I'm a slob too |'D But I never get the urge to clean. I'm glad you do, though! Whatever the result is, it seems to work. I'm alwasy sort of... overwhelmed, at how much I have to clean, and end up doing nothing, heh.

Actually I. I found a half-empty bottle of tequila and I'm doing shots right now because of reasons.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-20 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man this is not a helpful response at all. But one of my oldest, best friends got into town tonight, and we just went out drinking and eating, and it was fantastic. Exactly the cure for my similar ennui and anxiety - being able to talk to him about all the things I'm dealing with atm, and also just hanging out with him and having drinks.

Uhhh yeah that's not a useful suggestion, sorry. I guess what I do, in general, is, if I'm in a good enough place to do so, try to get in touch with a friend and do something social, and if that doesn't work out, order some Chinese food and put on a comfortable sweatshirt, and just hang out as comfortably as possible and try not to worry about anything else.
