I agree. I don't even like her writing or characters, but they need to exist as movies just for the dragons.

Preferably Dragonflight (though I would wholly approve of some updating and a bit of tweaking to some of the rapey bits), or the Dragonsong/Dragonsinger books.

And hey, everybody's always on about how they want more women, right? I mean Lessa went and saved the freaking planet by figuring out something nobody else did, and by sheer nerve and daring. Lessa was fierce.

I wish we could get an Anne McCaffrey dragon movie. I just want to see all the dragons!

Unfortunately, if the movies were anything like the books they would be nothing but hideously protracted romance scenes and characters brushing their hair for thirty minute scenes. You would see about five minutes of dragons and that would be it.

I've read the first book in this series and I think seeing the dragons would be cool. CGI has come such a long way that the dragons would look pretty awesome.

First, I'd rather see the first Acorna book be turned into a movie because I'll finally have an excuse to plug Love 146, this organization that helps rehabilitate survivors of child trafficking into productive society, into every conversation thing ever.

Dolphins of Pern, on the other hand....

Seriously, after all the repetition that was/is in all the other books, that single volume is a masterpiece, that I would dearly love to see in cinematic form, some day.

I agree that dragons are awesome and I want more of them, but there are quite a few other stories I would rather have adapted to the big screen. Heck, I would like some original screenplays before I'd be into Dragons of Pern movies.

I never liked Lessa or F'lar (Brekke and F'nor, though; I loved them; Jaxom, I could take or leave, though his little dragon Ruth was pretty cool). I preferred the Harper series, actually, or even Moreta's Story to 'current year' Dragonriders.

I'll just take a Harper Hall movie. Or proper trilogy. I don't remember enough about the other stories to care*, but Dragonsong was my introduction to the fantasy genre, and I've read it a dozen times. It's one of my favorite stories ever. Fire lizards on the big screen please.

*I don't remember Lessa being terrible or rape scenes?? 11-year-old me was pretty oblivious though.

It wasn't so much what people tend to think of as "traditional" rape, but when dragons mate, so do their riders, whether they otherwise want to or not.
