I haven't seen the second film yet (didn't particularly like the first one) but I still hope they don't kill Mary. Seeing as John had multiple wives though, I bet it'll happen. It's easy drama. (It'll probably happen in Sherlock as well, which, urg...)

I'm not sure they will go with canon though, considering they haven't stuck very closely to canon at all with the RDJ movies.

... You do have a point there. I hope you're right. I'm not sure I believe it's so much about sticking with canon though as the easy drama bit. Then again I haven't heard anything about the third film, so maybe they'll go in a completely different direction.

For some reason I'd like to think both Downeys' and Law would object to Mary being killed off for drama's sake.

Eh, they seem to go way more for action-comedy than drama though, and seeing as Holmes wanting Mary to not be there was a big thing and a source of conflict in both the first movies, it'll fit better with a comedic-toned movie if the arc is "Holmes stops being childish and accepts Watson getting married" than "Oh hey, Mary died. Forget all the previous conflict because now Holmes and Watson have nothing to argue over."

In a TV show, I'd expect her to die, but not in the last installment of a pretty goofy and light-hearted movie trilogy. Especially as they developed Mary's character a good bit in the second movie.
